one piece speaker recommendation

Hi,
I'm looking for a good quality speaker that is only one piece. I want something like those iPod-dock speakers, except without the iPod dock.
If it's wireless that would be great, but I'd much rather have my money go towards good sound quality than a wireless receiver.

Ideally it'd be under $200, although closer to $100 would be great. I'm going to use it just for when I have some friends over at my place and my MacBook built-in speakers just don't cut it.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm not even sure what category (if any) of speaker I'm supposed to be looking for.

TLDR:
- want speaker recommendation
- one piece system
- connect to my computer's audio-out
- prefer sound quality over fancy features
- under $200

Thanks!

Get something like linked below, and if for some reason you cant live with the speakers being apart, literally glue them together. All you need is a 1/8 to dual 1/4 cable, or 1/8 to dual RCA cable.

Do you have iTunes on your Mac? If you do you could purchase a "AirPlay" speaker. Just do a Google/Bing search for AirPlay speakers. I have a Klipsch G-17 which works great for me and wireless but it runs 550.00

Small powered speakers like either of these or the Fostex mentioned above really are the way to go, the sound quality will be so much better. Especially if you ever want to get a little loud. Get over the one piece idea unless you need it to be portable.

Otherwise there's this, works via bluetooth:

And more generally some options if you look around iLounge.

A mini powered sound bar will work. Do you need make and model numbers, or do you want to search it yourself?

The Audioengine A2 speakers were the perfect solution for me. They are $199 per pair and sound great.

They seem like the perfect thing to meet all of your requirements.

Look them up and read the Stereophile article on them for more information.

Sure if you could recommend something in particular that would be great.

I suppose I could glue two speakers together but that would look pretty tacky. I want something that looks decent.

I do want it to be easily portable, ie. if I want to move it from my bedroom into the living room or the kitchen I don't want to be fumbling around with wires connecting the speakers etc..

I should be able to just grab my laptop in one hand and my speaker in the other without messing around with cables or multiple pieces.
That might sound pretty trivial, but I just want it to be simple like that.

To me it sounds like you want something like this

You could also attach a handle to the top of your "glued together" speakers. That option might sound strange, but it will by far give you the best sound quality, if you really care that much. If convenience is more important get the tiny portable speaker.
