JL Audio Fathom F113

I'm looking for buying a JL Audio Fathom f113 since I've heard so many good review about this sub. Looks like their prices are going up now. Could someone please kindly advise if it's okay to buy it online?
Has anyone family with the "MSS HiFi"? Do I need to worry about the warranty issue?
Where can I find the best price for f113 gloss? Should I get two of them or one would be enough? Thanks much in advance!!

If you want to spend an outrageous amount of money for a sub that doesn't outperform others that are 1/2 to 1/4 it's price then I would say go for it. They are great subs but I don't think they're anywhere near worth the premium price.

Before spending that kind of money, take a look at hsu, psb, svs, jtr, seaton, etc. and read the subwoofer forum on here as well.

Add Rythmik to the above list.

If the form factor isn't important, then you should look at some of the alternatives. That said, the F113 is a fantastic sub and more than holds it's own with the physically larger subs listed.

I have a mixed use room, and the only way to get duals in there with any modicum of visual subtlety were the JL's (at least in 2007 when I acquired the first sub)

You can get the JL Audio discounted like 30% of MSRP

The JL subs are the most impressive subs that I have ever heard. They totally blew me away with their output and sound quality, especially for a sealed sub! My question is to you guys who say that you can get similar quality for 1/2 or 1/4 the price of a JL sub, can you please tell me what sub will compare to the JL's that are in the 1/2 to 1/4 price of the new one?

I bought a JL sub based upon its performance for the size. There are plenty of ported subs that play loud and deep, but I wanted something that I could easily integrate with my speakers.

Big bloated sound might be good for home theater, but I preferred the sealed JL for music.

A custom Funk Audio sub cabinet with a TC Sounds 18 driver will not only go lower than a Fathom F113, it will do it with more clarity. Name any deep base music you want it will put the JL sub to shame on the low stuff from both a quantity and quality standpoint. The Fathom is a really nice sub, but the Funk Audio with the TC Sounds driver is at a different level.

True, though it will be substantially bigger than the JL, so it still comes down to how large a sub one can place.

There are lots, but they are bigger. A lot of what you are paying for is the technology that allows such a little sub to perform so well. If size isn't a factor then save your money and get a larger sub. If you don't have room or just want an unobtrusive sub then get the JL.
