Mitsubishi 2012?

Thread Starter
Any word on the 2012 Mitsubishi dlp sets? I like how they have increased size last year but how about 4K and passive 3D? I have a WD-82740 and its nice but seems like they need a new angle with the flat panels getting bigger and cheaper.

That might be a little too much to ask for this year.

Isn't it typical for Mits to unveil at least some info if not show off some of their TV's for the new year at CES?

IIRC that's what they've done pretty much every year for the longest time.

I don't recall hearing or reading about any of that for 2012 this year from Mits.

Just trying to google up any info on new RPTVs doesn't dig up any info.

Maybe 2011 really is the last year for RPTV's?

Actually Mitsubishi says very little at CES. Sometimes they introduce a very new product - such as several years ago the Laser TV and last year the 92". But they say almost nothing about the full line at CES.

Actually they don't really say almost nothing. For pretty much every year for the last few years they have at least mentioned that they will have RPTV's for sale in the coming year. In addition to as you say, introduce certain very new products. I guess maybe there wasn't much press this time around on their RPTV line up for 2012 due to it not being as popular a topic as many other "higher end" products. I just googled Mitsubishi CES 2012, and did find out that they will at least have the 92" for sale this year.

RPTV's are just becoming more and more less news worthy I guess.

Still nothing about 2012 models and 2011's prices are coming down as if they are being closed out.

Doesn't look good for 2012.

Really? Most people in this forum have been complaining that the prices have gone up since the January SuperBowl deals.

Did you not read my post that was posted directly ahead of yours? The link I posted in my post has a video that mentions that Mits will offer a 92" RPTV for 2012.

I just did another quick search and found another video that confirms that Mits will sell 73" RPTV's all the way up to a 92" RPTV for 2012.

Here ya go...

Mits is already listing some of the the 2012 models (WD-73C12, WD-82C12, and WD-72742) on their website. Looks like placeholders to be updated when the models are released.

Historically Mits introduces their tv lineup at their own show in Orange County Calif. Usually in late May. However, recently they have been moving the date up probably to counter most other manufacturers who have tv's shipping in late March or so. Last year I believe was the earliest ever introduction which was in late April, if memory serves.

Last year it was June through August, which was way late. You can check the various model threads to see when each started shipping.

Yes, they always ship later, but I was actually talking about the line show where they introduce the sets to their dealers.

All models except the 8xx series and LaserVue have been out for a few days now.

The 73C12 and 82C12 do not list 3D and has 2 HDMI.

So for people like me who do not want 3D the C12 models might work plus they should be priced the lowest of the models.

I preordered a new WD73742. It's not much more than the 740. I preordered it on Big River for $1485.00. Does anyone know what the difference is between the 2 are? Mitsubishi doesn't do a comparison on their site.

They are not identical however, and the new tech is plainly listed.

Really? Do tell because the 740 and 742 spec sheets don't give anything away.

I tried to help. I dug up the specs, and linked to them for you. Now you need me to read the damn things to you?

Your statement that the spec sheets don't give anything away is false. Here's a hint: on the first page alone, there are 14 bullet points for the 740, and 16 bullet points for the 742.

How's that trolling working out for you?

Maybe you could have just said there IS nothing new in the 742 except some web functionality and an idevice app.

That's certainly nothing like last year with the improved screens.
