Replay's blue light is "burned out"

My Replay is working just fine except the blue light doesn't show on the front of the unit any more. Is there a way to fix it? I'm not anxious to crack it open if there isn't an easy fix. The light just stopped working one day (like a light bulb that goes bad). The unit responds to the on/off and remote and works fine. Records fine, etc. I just can't tell if it's on or off until I turn on the TV.

The front board under the cover frequently has cold solder joints. Unplug the board and touch up the solder joints. or buy a clunker and scavenge a board from it.

Not knowing a lot about soldering, but if it was working for the last 10 years, why would it not have a good connection now?
