Guys going to be getting an Epsom 8350 soon and was going to look into updating things on the audio side as well. Wanted to hear thoughts on if I would see more benefits from pairing a xpa-5 with my existing pioneer 1016 or would upgrading to something like a Marantz sr7005 would be a better route. Hdmi1.4 a non issue as the 8350 does not do 3d. Speakers are 4- x-mtm's encores with an x-cs encore center with a single mfw-15. In a 20x13' room.

Was curios if anyone thought feeding the x series more power from the emotiva amp would be a noticible difference.

i'm starting to sound like a broken record here, but...

if you aren't clipping/putting the avr into protection (which you would have noticed/complained about already), the emo buys you nothing...

a more modern avr, otoh, buys you modern dsp (which actually does do something)...

imo, i would pass on the sr7005 if you go that direction, and either push my budget a bit higher and go for the denon 4311 or push it a little lower for a lower level denon model... see the first 3 posts in the denon xx12 thread for descriptions/features...

agreed. If you buy an amp, you will have a VSX-1016 with more power that you probably won't notice because I doubt that you ever ran out of juice in a room that size with your current receiver.

If you get a new receiver, like some of what ccotenj recommended, I'm certain that you will be very please by what a good room correction software will do for you. I have a Denon 2311 in a room slightly bigger and there is no way I'm running it to it's limit at reference level. I'm not sure on your speakers sensitivity but I doubt they are lower then 87db.
