center channel on marantz 6006 not responding

just got a new marantz 6006 reciever, currently i have only a 3.1 set up currently on it. after running the intial setup and lots of tinkering i cant get any output to my center channel. I know its not the speaker, i also know some content will play in stereo only. tried with sonos running through optical and nothing, same when watching bluray. ive tried diff speaker cable as well. marantz is closed today so no support from them today. also when running audyssey i get no response from the center either. HELP PLEASE!

How do you know it's not the speaker? Have you swapped it with a FL or FR speaker? You also may want to reset the microprocessor (p. 150).

Also note there is a dedicated 6006 Owner's thread ....

You can download the Marantz 6006 manual in .pdf format which does .... http://us.marantz.com/us/Support/Pages/Manuals.aspx

Have you gone into the Setup Menu>System Setup>Speaker Setup>Channel Level and confirmed the test tones play through the center speaker?

Also, I assume you've done a full Audyssey setup?

Its sounds as if you have.. it might be an issue with the SR6006 reporting to the HDMI devices that it is only a stereo unit.. HDMI devices "talk" to each other, and since you aren't using surrounds, I suspect the receiver is reporting itself as a stereo only device, hence only source units are sending 2.0...

I don't think there is anyway to have it work as a 3.1 system.... I've had AVR's that do this, but I suspect maybe Denon/Marantz doesn't operate that way..

If that's the case, and it was designed that way, I don't know what you'll be able to do to "fix" it...

dts neo 6 cinema will matrix the sound to center channel. also, surround sound movies will play through center channel. other than that any other mode will just play like it is stereo.
