Yamaha RX-A3010 Sound Fields

What sound fields do you like for a 5.1 Blu-Ray concert and what channel sytem do you have?

It varies depending on my mood. I'll use straight or surround decoder modes for 5.1 music content or rummage through other dsp's for use of my other four speakers. Sometimes the dsp's sound good, other times, they don't. It's dependent upon the actual content being played.

I have 9 channels I'll use for actual music or 11 for movies plus two subs.

I don't like any sound fields except for DPL IIx which I don't really consider a sound field.

I don't have the 3010 but do have most of the same dsp modes. I use entertainment/sports mode occasionally for basketball and football games. I don't use the movie modes often but have found that movie/standard seems to raise the center channel but reduce the dynamics some, so I use it for late night listening sometimes. Sci-fi is great on Tron Legacy but haven't tried it on much else. Most times I just listen to straight pro logic llx or neo:6 though.

I don't have the 3010, but have experience with CinemaDSP. I like "Adventure" and "Spectacle" for lots of movies, "Sci-Fi" is kind of a nice "last resort" if things don't sound all that great. Otherwise I just leave it in "Enhanced" or "Normal" depending on the content (if it's going from stereo "up" then "Enhanced"). "Spectacle" was lots of fun with Avatar.

For music (and this may show how potentially dated I am), I like the Concert Hall A and B programs, Tokyo Church, and Roxy Theatre ("Jazz Club" does not do the same thing, at least between the multiple Yamahas I have and have used).

Most substantial setup I've ever done for CinemaDSP was 5.1 + front presence (I didn't like 6.1 ES and saw no reason to go beyond the 7.1FP configuration).

I have the 2010 in 5.1 and using both front and rear presence speakers. I just watched the Adele Live at Royal Albert Hall concert yesterday and as I flipped through the settings I found the Music Video setting gave me the best audio experience of what I thought the Hall would sound like. Very good concert by the way.
