Couple things to think about:
1. Are you only going to use the TV for 3D movies? If so, you can just buy the Panasonic 3D bluray player and skip the need for the Mits adapter. The Panasonic bluray player outputs checkboard 3d which is the format that the Mits adapter converts the current 3d formats into -> no need for the adapter. This won't work for any downloaded content or cable though since it's presented in SBS... which needs to adapter to display correctly.
2. I have the Mits glasses that come with the adapter and I don't like them very much. The glasses work very well (no sync issues, good range, great battery life, etc.) but I find them too wide -> you can see the reflection of what's behind you in the top outer corners of the lenses (if you have glasses, these will probably be great). I ended up going with the Xpand X103's. There are multiple compatible brands with the Mits emitter (there's a thread on it somewheres). If you end up skipping the adapter, you can also go with DLP-Link glasses that sync to flashes in the 3d image (no need for an emitter). There are multiple threads on the pros and cons of both kicking around this forum.
My advice (knowing nothing about you) -> Buy the adapter with the emitter and glasses (you'll end up needing more glasses anyways). The glasses are relatively cheap and I think the IR emitter is the way to go for glasses tech. Buy a PS3 and you're covered for content.
Also, your picture will most likely look significantly better than most large flat screen displays. I'm not going to get into it but DLP has the fatest refresh rate of any display technology which virtually eliminates the ghosting issues seen on many LCDs, Plasmas, LEDs, etc.
