hi which do you think is a better speaker. the energy rc 50 which vanns has for 800 a pair or a pair of definitive technologies bp8 bi polar tower speakers which can be had at newegg for half price at 500 a pair

Deaftech are for the deaf, I always say; they and my ears don't coexist happily...lol.

A pair of Monitor Audio Bronze BX-5 speakers for $750 would be my choice for the best sound if it were my money on the line.

But the RC-50 is not bad.

Deaf tech....they do sound bright for the first 50 hours or so. But after playing them at near reference levels they settle down to produce a very natural sound.

How about between the BP8 and the MArtin Logans Motion 12? Both are about the same price at NEWEGG. IN addition which one would have the strongest matching center?

I have the RC-50s, and they sound great. However, right now you can get the Energy RC-70s from Vanns for $800 a pair. That's a steal, and looks like the sale ends tomorrow. Lotta love for the RC-70s in the Energy Owners Thread. Also, see this post for promo code on getting a discount on the matching center, the RC-LCR.

I would agree that the RC-70s are the way to go. They are a big step up from the RC-50s. A true 3-way speaker with great midrange and good bass extention. The center is also very good 3 way with decent sized drivers and enclosure. Check the size to make sure it will fit where you want to put it. I would find a way though as having a good center is very important.

Have heard these Def Tech before and not impressed. For the price they are ok where as for the price the RC 70s are outstanding. I had RC-70s until recently and when I bought them 5 years ago at (1250 each) I thought they were good value at the price.

I really liked the ML 12 when I heard them at Magnolia. They were one of my favorites there even when compared with higher priced BW speakers. I like speakers with very clear sound and detail which the ML had. Still preferred the Energys though.

Sorry Commsysman, had to smile when you said "But the RC-50 is not bad." LOL I know that energy speakers in general are not to your taste but nice to see you have seen the light finally and realised the RC series is "not bad"

I know, for a second I thought it was the end of days, cannibalism in the streets, skies raining blood, clocks running backwards and whatnot.
