Help chosing: PS64D8000 or PS64D550

Hi guys,

After years with my crappy LCD that was bleeding grey all over the place i decided to upgrade.

From researching i've read that the 550 is the D8000 without the SmartTV hub. I don't need smart TV hub because i use it primarily as a desktop monitor.

The question i have: except some settings like: 10p/advanced color management and SmartTV is there a real reason in performance to justify the price difference?

I guess that the best thing to do is to see these TV's in person at a retail store to see if there is a difference to you. I have the 7000 series and here are the main things that got me to choose that one:
- black filter
- form of the TV and it's thinness
- high amount of adjustability (very important to me now after playing with it.)

I think that you will be happy with the 550 if you got it, but see for yourself and play with the settings at the store to get some sort of calibration done. If they will let you play with the remote, then get a few calibration settings for each set and see how they look.

i would ... but in Romania these TVs are not on display... and since i can see the freaking flicker on my d8000 (which i intend to return) i will most probably try out the LG 60PZ950.... if that one flickers as well.. i`ll get LED which is small in comparison
