If enough people don't like the silver bezel wouldn't some manufacturer make some sort of cover for it? You could always plastidip it.

I was watching a friends samsung lcd (60+" model?) and it had a thin silver strip around it. It was in a lighted room but the tv was inside a wooden entertainment center. The silver bezel did not distract me but the way it handled the motion of the baseball sure did. I too will probably end up with the vt50.

I've thought about something like that. It would be hard to apply.

Being inside a wooden entertainment center blocks a lot of possible angles of incident light. It's also -- in fairness -- an archaic remnant of a bygone TV era. Many people still use those because they exist in their home. Few people are going out of their way to construct enclosed TV spaces and flat panels are one of the main reasons why.

Hoping you guys my have some insight on this. I use chomapure to calibrate my sets. Will i be able to unlock ISF modes on the VT50 without purchasing calman?

They are starting to trickle in at Magnolia(Best Buy). Check with your local store though, as early inventory can be spotty.

65GT50 is shipping already! Which means the VT50 should be shipping in two weeks..Around May 15th. It seems panasonic will shipping on time.

Panasonic's website says that it ships within 3-5 days

Has anyone pre ordered from Panasonic? It does say estimated ship date: 1-3 business days. I would really like to order from Amazon as I have prime but not sure how long it will take Amazon to get stock once they're released... Would I be better off pre ordering from Panasonic?

Just saw the update on Panasonic's website for the ship dates, called them directly (following info applies to 65" US model).
They are getting a shipment of these on Cinco de Mayo, and those who preordered from Panasonic will be shipped first (barring no damage to the TVs).
As for retailers, it will depend on which one you ordered from and how they went about their business as to when we can get one.
Word to the wise, bring your hard earned $$$$ to an establishment that deserves it and cares about your technology...if they wear a blue shirt, run!

Any word on if glasses are included in the box. I'm so use to Samsung giving free glasses that another manufacturer not doing it seems criminal. Plus, Panasonic glasses cost more than Samsung. Oh! I know, I'll get 2012 Samsung glasses since they work with 2012 Panasonic TVs.

Yesterday I put the 55" VT50 SKU in Best Buy's OMS system for a basic delivery and the availability from our distribution warehouse showed up as being available "today." Same day delivery was even an option, which is usually quite rare. I found it odd considering that the SKU does not even show up in BB's inventory system yet.

I didn't check the 65, sorry. The 55 is the one I wanna buy

I also called Panasonic as I want to order the 65" VT50 and the person I spoke to said that they will ship after the 6th. She also said that retailers will not be getting them until early July. I don't know how reliable this info is but it was directly from a Panasonic rep. I just ordered mine direct from Panasonic, cant wait!

For all the rumblings heard, it appears that the little lady from Panasonic is quite wrong and I hope she is indeed wrong. Keep your ears on the ground fellas and report back when you hear more.

Forgive me if this was already talked about, but does anyone know if the Samsung 3D glasses will work on the VT50? I am stuck with 8 pair from dealing with Samsung and was wondering if I should keep them or sell them? 4 are brand new from the ES8000 that I got a refund on.

No glasses in the box with the VT series. Confirmed directly with Panasonic.

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this but here goes anyways. Without starting a 14 page debate I'd just like to ask some opinions from those who have seen these panels only. If money was not an issue, would you buy a 65VT50 or 65VX300? I don't care about specs, the only thing that matters is picture quality. I have a Kuro 141 and need a second TV for another room. I have windows, with blinds, on one wall which is perpendicular to the TV. I cannot make the room black but I can remove all direct sunlight from hitting the TV. Unfortunately no one in town has either of these on display.

Welcome aboard. According to the new standards for active 3D glasses the 2012 Samsung glasses will work with the 2012 VT50 sets. By the way if you elect to sell some of them, please notify me via a PM.

Thanks for the info! That's great news, at least I will get something out of dealing with Samsung! I have 4 pair from the 2012 ES series and another 4 pair from the 2011 D8000 series. I am guessing the 4 from the older D8000 will not work on the VT50 but if they do I will let you know.

Value Electronics received confirmation of its first allotment of VT50's. They are definitely coming, albeit, I am sure, with limited availability in the 65 inchers until supplies catch up with demand. Historically, I have found talking to folks at Panasonic Direct, etc. to be an inaccurate awful experience. Good luck trying to return a defective TV to Panasonic Direct.Com!

Thanks. I have a bunch of 2011 Samsung glasses that I will put up for sale also including two chargeable pairs and the charger.

I have an older 50" Panasonic plasma I purchased about 4 years ago that got a line of dead pixels right in the center of the display. Called Panasonic and they had a tech to my house that week, panel ordered and installed a week later. I didn't even have to give them proof of purchase, just model and serial number. Never had a problem with Panasonic and I really doubt anyone spending 4k on the flagship model will have an issue getting it repaired or replaced if they magically receive a defective unit... I would love to wait for Amazon to get them in stock but unfortunately I need a TV to replace this POS Samsung UN60ES8000 that's getting picked up for a refund by Samsung in the next 2 weeks.

55VT50 is on BB web site today but not the 65VT50.

BTW, my recent TV dealings with a particular BB store have been excellent. Can't say that for all the stores, but I found one that I'll buy my 65VT50 at as soon as it comes in.

I'm conflicted about which glasses to get...I haven't tried the new SSG-4100 Samsungs, but a Panasonic rep told me earlier that the older SSG-3050 would work just fine for 2012 Panasonics; I found out through testing them out that they sync but the image barely has any depth. Wondering if the 4100s offer full compatibility. The new Panasonics are probably more comfortable and offer a better experience since they aren't open on the sides...

I've here the 4100 work but they loose sync every once and a while. I'm sticking with the panasonics myself.
