Roxy Music Complete Works with high-resolution dvds - Page 2

With the Hi-Rez DVDs axed I have zero interest in the box set. Thats too bad as it would have been very nice to have all the albums in Hi-Rez.

Indeed, what a pity! One of the great bands of all time. They did such a nice job with the Avalon SACD and I had hoped that it would be a matter of time before all of Roxy was released in the same manner. Alas!

I just cancelled my order. In fact, "No Hi Res = No Sale" is what I put as the reason. Almost letter for letter. smile.gif

They probably found out that "original master" tapes do not exist anymore or unusable. So the best they can do is to re-print CDs with the same old bits.

Does anyone actually own this set here? I was going to order it from Amazon UK and am wondering if the mini LP sleeves have an actual disc holder.......or is it an abrasive scratch fest??

The AQ reviews have generally been positive; the flat transfer apparently sounding better than the previous HDCD versions. I have been keeping an eye on the prices to see if they drop before springing for the collection. What a shame that they didn't get the stellar Avalon SACD treatment. Wonder if Steven Wilson is a fan of Roxy. Would love to hear the first 5 albums get Wilson's attention.

It's a scratch fest but the sq is so much better than the 99 remasters .....

I broke down and got the set because of the better SQ. And, the faces of the CDs don't touch the paper sleeve when you put them in, only the edges if you make the sides "bow' with some pressure on the sleeve edges between your fingers. Even so, the liners don't harm the CD unless you get some dirt in there.

I've ripped mine, so I don't know when the next time I'll be removing the CDs from the sleeves.
