HK AVR 158 auto detect problem

Hello,
My Harman Kardon AVR 158 receiver is conected to my computer with optical SPDIF cable.
The receiver able to detect DTS and Dolby Digital just fine, but my problem is when i pause the movie the Display on the receiver change from DTS/DD to PCM and when i play the movie again it change back to DTS/DD.
Each time there is such change there is a sound of electrical power surges from the speakers.
It looks like that signal is changing when pausing the movie.
Can someone please advise how i should fix it? Is there any special set up i should do?
I have windows XP with on board sound card.
I will appreciate your help as this is driving my crazy.
Thank you

Engage "mute" on the AVR before pausing the movie. Turn "mute" off on the AVR when the movie has been restrarted.

Thank you Ratman.
I was thinking that there would be other solution for that.
I did a small research and apparently this issue is very common as "spdif pause bug", but i didn't find any solution that works.
If someone know how to fix this problem i am sure it will help others as well.
