Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Page 48

I have to agree with BB's previous statements regarding the maps, I've been saying since launch that I don't like the new maps. There are so many elevation changes, windows, alleys and general crap everywhere that it really detracts from the tactics of the game. I use the term "tactics" loosely because CoD games are more RnG but it seems like I'm getting shot in the back a lot more than in previous CoDs. Overall I'm having fun but there are certainly moments of frustration.

I just bought the havocs to try out...people swear by these on reviews, so thought I'd try them out

I'm also using a XIM3, and would highly recommend it to anyone who started gaming on the PC. I still can't compete with the 'good' controller gamers but it increases my level of enjoyment considerably.

I use those. Well, one of them actually - on the right analog stick. It has definitely helped me to be more precise in my aiming. Took a little time to get used to, but definitely helped.

I use them too, I like them a lot but don't know they made me any better. The took some getting used to but now I have to have them. I'm ready to order a new pair and a new controller.

I have them as well and I don't think they helped my game at all but I do find them more comfortable to use.

use one on the right stick only.. i like it..

You know the mutliple elevations, windows and maze of alleys and paths is nothing new to COD... been this way since MW2...

That is what I was thinking. MW2 did NOT have your COD4 3 paths only design, and it had tons of elevation changes. Favela was maze, as were a few others. I actually think the new map Slums reminds me of the COD4 maps as its pretty straightforward and basically 3 ways through.

Pfft. Nonsense. MW2, Blops, and MW3 maps have some overwatch spots and alleys but none of them that I can think of are the mazes that the Blops 2 maps are.

Edit: That stupid oil rig level from MW3 is like that and is terrible. tongue.gif

Slums is a very straight forward map and to be honest it plays very well if you ask me. Sure if you don't get "B" you are kind of fubar but it is a simplistic map that has good playability.

Hijacked is the new Nuketown but even if you are in your own damn spawn area and have not pushed up too far this game will spawn the enemy there and typically right behind you. Makes it an aggravating as hell map sometimes.

Carrier - just sucks period

Raid - actually plays pretty well. There are a few ways in and out of most points and I don't feel "funneled" just to get to a flag but it can get hectic trying to hold down a spot.

Aftermath - believe it or not I kind of like this map even though I have terrible games on it. There are several ways in and out of every area and lots of little hiding spots, corners, etc. Makes play on this map a pain.

Turbine - probably one of my more hated maps. It just doesn't play well IMHO. Perhaps because I have had nothing but sh&t games on it but I am not a fan.

Drone is a map I really like but it is very convoluted and has lots of paths, rooms, corners, perches etc and doesn't always inspire great games.

Nuketown - well its Nuketown, no comment

Yemen - TONS of paths in and out, more than any map in my mind. Not a bad one but again I always seem to be getting shot in the back on it no matter what

Cargo - Another map I like. It has several "perch" spots which can be a pain and the 2 wide lanes on each side of the map provide excellent flanking potential. Another map I always seem to get my a$$ kicked on but I still actually like it.

Express - hate this map with hellfire and brimstone, nothing to say I just friggin' hate it.

Meltdown - not a bad map, lots of campy spots particularly the windows and the silo and then of course the left side as well. Seems no matter how many corners I check there is someone hiding that shoots me in the back. Has a mega campy spot to hide in (the silo)

Overflow - hate this map with hellfire and brimstone, nothing to say I just friggin' hate it. Never have a good game here, ever.

Plaza - cool and interesting map, a little large sometimes as it feels I am running a long time to get to somewhere. Definitely too many places in and out of the left and right side rooms/bars/etc. Like Meltdown it has a massively campy spot at B to hide in (the bar/dance area). I don't hate but don't love it either.

Standoff - solid map. A few too many high spots to watch but I think it plays well overall.

Supposedly it will be added to the regular playlist but I really loved the mosh pit.

I wish they added a regular Core Moshpit mode like we had back in Blops 1.

Yeah, kind of silly to lock it to mercenary only.

There's always league play though, that's moshpit style.

LOL U R Crazy brah! MW3 is all mazes all the time. Blops was definitely not as bad, but unfortunately these designers think that more complex = better game play and they could not be more wrong. Honestly, many of us here are on the wrong side of thirty and we are not the gamers they are catering to or trying to capture so in the end if you had a no BS off the record convo with Vondehar or others, I think what you'd hear is they could give two scoops of chicken #$% what we think of the game play. We don't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Does anybody else think the map selection sucks in terms of randomness? Granted I didn't play all weekend but made it to level 39 and played Plaza once, never played Raid or Slums and a few maps only two or 3 times.

Man, I've played those the most it seems. I'd like to try some others so I can learn them.

Let's be honest. After many years of play COD we all know CORE is for pu$$ies.
Always has been.
Sure it takes skill to dominate but not much because the game does all the work for you.
The solution is to play HC.
No UAV spam and other annoying things common to Core.

Boy, did u ever hit the nail on the proverbial head. I can't describe the frustration of when I get the jump on a sniper w/ 10-15 LMG rounds, only to have him kill me w/o his aim even being affected. Then there's SMG guy running w/ the lightweight perk jukin' and jivin' for 3 seconds while I pepper him w/ AR rounds only to have him knife me. The thing that bothers me is they only have a few modes for hardcore right now. Does anyone know why they always do that at the release? Why not have HC for all the modes on release day? This would allow people who don't get the game on day one to compete w/o all the perks/attachments. Just my 2 cents...

I've been using 'em for awhile now. Not a game breaker, but I've definitely seen $10 worth of improvement. If you really want to get into it($$$) take a look here http://www.scufgaming.com/usa/

It's a whole new world once u unlock those and claymores(hardcore of course). On core guys were running through them regularly. One thing I've noticed about clays is that the person has to make DEFINITE contact w/ them, or they won't kill them even on hardcore. I've had people many time see them walk up to about 2ft away and shoot them. The way u place them is KEY now for them to trip(guess it should be that way). Sometimes u gotta double-stack 'em, which I think is silly(unless he's running flak jacket). There should be no sprinting n jumping though them.

.... And I've been disappointed with the series since then, not just suddenly now, CoD5 wasn't my cup of tea either. To be honest I didn't give MW3 a fair try but I've bought (and sold lol) all of the rest.

I could be a bit bias about my map design preference since S&D is my most played mode and everyone knows that mode was DA BOMB lol in CoD4 not TDM unlike the newer CoDs.

I guess because they're starting to sell the game without it, and they don't want to cut the userbase for matchmaking in half? It was really a dick move to make it a preorder bonus.

Yup. I packed up BLOPS II to trade in to Amazon BECAUSE I can't stand the new maps. They are almost all labyrinths with a ton of objects for people to hide behind where they can shoot you, but is very hard to shoot them. I hated MW3's maps, and I can't believe the maps on BLOPS II are even worse piles of garbage.

Went to Gamestop today and paid $10 for CoD4 which I haven't played in ages. Can't believe I ever got rid of this amazing, AMAZING game. Those maps were perfection. PS3 version, which doesn't have the hackers the 360 version does.

Nuketown isn't going away. Pretty sure they're just gonna add it to the regular rotation for those that own it. Kinda like World At War did to the DLC maps, where those who didn't own them get booted if the map is voted for. Treyarch isn't stupid enough to get rid of Nuketown. It'll be back.

Of course Nuketown is coming back in some form, they only got rid of the 24/7 playlist.

I thought I remember reading it here so whoever suggested the Full Auto on the FAL.... THANKS! Holy crap that thing is a beast. I have Select Fire, Grip and Quickdraw Handle on there. Playing TDM and KC, I raised my KD from 1.10 to 1.21 tonight solely using the FAL setup.
There are no complaints from me. The same game just new graphics. I haven't had the problem as others but it going to ale some time getting used to the game. And honestly which COD has ever came out that everyone loved.
As for to many hiding spots,
Here is the solution. Use a Fal , Milimeter scanner, fore grip, select a fire. No one will be safe behind objects.

I get back to CoD4 after trying out every CoD and there's no way in hell I'd sell this game, it's easily one of the best games released in this gen, there are some people out there who still play this game regularly since it was released and they're pretty damn good at the game, so competition can still be found which is a good thing. I also play on the PS3, once you connect as a host you're pretty much set, I don't remember people being able to hack my hosted lobby, would have been cool if the game was still supported by patches, but of course greedy developers would never consider that (even if IW had the same team it started with).
Do I loose stats if someone dashboards. Like my kills, every game i am doing good with a 3+ kd someone will just dashboard so i hope im not loosing those kills for my k/d

Also what lethal weapon do you guys recommend for hc td, my freinds swear by bouncing bettys but it seems people just run passed them usually or dodge them, or simply blow them up.

From mp1st:

Treyarch Game Design Director recently revealed that, due to the reaction of Nuketown 2025′s removal, the map will be included in a “small maps moshpit” public playlist so that users will have access to it without completely fragmenting the matchmaking.

He said, “You killed the messenger, but I still fight for the users. RT to #bringbackNuketown2025 and we will add to a small maps moshpit.” He also mentioned, however, that adding it into regular playlists would be impossible, for it would “fragment matchmaking really poorly at this stage.” Though, “It will be back as a single map playlist for Double XP weekends or other events. It’s how we’ve always done it.”

Treyarch has added the “Chaos Moshpit” bonus playlist, exclusive to owners of Nuketown 2025: “Small maps with a variety of game modes. Pure Chaos. Includes Nuketown 2025!” So far, the maps we’ve run into in this playlist are:

Slums
Hijacked
Standoff
Express
Cargo
Nuketown
Carrier

I dunno man, the quality to **** ratio was really low on cod 4. I love crossfire as much as anyone, but bog, bloc, countdown, downpour, pipeline, vacant and wetwork are just total ****ing garbage maps. And then the rest are almost completely indistinct from each other, aside from overgrown. It's also the most unbalanced, the most hackable, and has the least variety.

I'm honestly surprised people are turning on blops 2 so quickly...this is the most satisfied I've been with a cod in the first two weeks out of all of them.
