Played a few times yesterday.

No lag playing:
multi-team
search and destroy
chaos moshpit

got lag playing:
league play (4 player)
league play (solo)
domination
kill confirmed


BTW - I just downloaded and played the new BF3 "Aftermath" expansion.
It's amazing.
Looking and playing. Great mix of close quarters and large areas.

I'd say that if COD is frustrating you it's worth checking out but it is a very different game due to the scale of the maps.
They don't have the lag issues due to using dedicated servers but you will have to deal with
changing your gameplay style. You can't run and gun, shouldn't play solo, and it's much more tactical
if you like that.

I really wanted to like that game and thought the larger maps would be like BTB on Halo but I was way wrong.... it's damn near impossible to drive a vehicle or aircraft and there is no training sims available. If your not in a vehicle your're getting killed by one or a someone sniping. I don't know which is more frustrating, that or the COD lag. I even played the campaign and enjoyed it up to the point where I had to pilot a helicopter... seriously, make the damn game a little more accessible for COD converts and it would be a win.

I played a bit last night, had a few matches with lag but mostly pretty smooth. Downloaded the new maps for Halo and played a bit but they are in a DLC lobby and CTF kept coming up so I left and played some campaign which is actually pretty sweet but so far I liked Reach better. I should be on this afternoon for a bit if you're around.

Shouldn't play BF3 solo is an understatement. You think cod has problems with people not playing the objectives, BF3 is on a whole other level. 80-90% of the players in any given game have absolutely zero intention of capping a flag. They just want to snipe or fly the jets.

Although I admit in that case, I'm part of the problem. All I wanna do is fly the chopper or jets, cause the gunplay is so ******, and I know no one else cares about the objective.

OMG I hope they don't. It's the differences that make it great. Move to 60FPS and make movement a bit more responsive? Yeah. Other than that, keep your damn grubby programming hands off my BF3!!!

What about the Medal of Honor series? I haven't tried Warfighter, but I'd imagine it to be the same as BF3 just without vehicles.

I just want a training mode to learn the damn vehicles, not asking for anything else.

I played the last one and was not impressed. The campaign was decent but that was it. I think Crysis 3 and possibly the next Rainbow will be $60 gamble for me.

been using the chicom qcb for my smg. ITS BEASTLY. use it with fastmags silencer and laser for hip fireing close maps. and fastmags silencer and red dot for larger maps. Its been pretty quality. you get alot of burst fires per clip. to me i use it as an assault rifle smg hybrid.

Agreed, and the burst fire makes it pretty easy to control muzzle rise for longer shots.

He's purposely playing TDM in a DOM game. This is has gone on for years and is an easy way to rack up kills. Show me a video of him getting 100+kills in TDM.. and then I will be impressed.
Until then I LOVVVVVVVVVVE running into people like him in OBJ based games, because then I start playing TDM in the OBJ based game too. And more often than not, they back out the lobby when the round is over because somebody has ruined the cheesey shyt they were attempting to do.
You wanna play TDM. Go play TDM! Not DOM.

It's been this way a long time. If they made it so KDR didn't get measured for objective games, the problem would lessen greatly IMO.

Best way to learn to fly or drive in bf3 is to get in an empty server and have at it. I mostly play bf3 so I just thought I'd throw out the comment. I used to play cod until mw3, but I'll check this thread to read the blops posts to see how the game is progressing. Happy gaming and post some footage like you guys used to in blops and mw3 smile.gif

A sniper by himself is doing nothing but if he has teammate collecting tags than it works. For the record I hate sniping/snipers. I wouldn't shed a single tear if they weren't included in the game.

The other douchbaggery is the people who kill you at close range and don't collect your tag on purpose. I guess they are trying to extend the game and give themselves more time for kills?

Ok guys. I really need some help. I am getting disconnected at least every other game. One night I don't have any problems at all and the next night is horrible. I have been playing with some local friends and I am the only one this is happening to. When it happens it kicks me out and disconnects from live. Once I get logged back in I can see that the other guys are still finishing the match. The game ran perfectly fine up until about 4 days ago.

All of the necessary ports have been forwarded and my NAT is open.

I have even tried unforwarding all of the ports to see what happens along with unplugging my modem/router to reset it.

It is hardwired and I have AT&T 6meg service.

I guess I need to jump on MW3 and see if the problems follow me. I have never had this problem before in any other game. Not even Black Ops.

Anyone else having this problem?

I had a few buddies playing last night and all 3 were complaining of the same thing. They couldnt find one match that had a stable connection. Maybe some issues last night?

last night was the worst night for lag i have ever seen. Rubber banding all over the screen. The whole lobby had red bars EVERY one of us and the other team. No host migration. NONE!

I leveled the FAL up to get the Select Fire attachment last night, and I have to say, I just didn't like it. I was getting destroyed constantly. Once I switched back to the Type 25, it was a whole different story. I guess it just depends on your style of play.

As for the comments on snipers not helping in KC, I disagree with this. They're getting kills, which lets me run and clean up the tags so that we get the win.

I agred with the DSL comment. Only thing is that it's my only option. No cable in my area. And I'm sure tethering from my iphone would be just as bad.

Have you checked the logs on the modem to see if you are losing sync? Sometimes DSL can just go. I had 25mb/s down 6mb/s up ADSL and one day my connection just started dropping. Sometimes it would drop every 15 minutes and others it would last a few hours. Called tech support and I was only partially syncing so they sent a tech out and there was a problem with my line from demarcation to the jack in the house. We switched to a different pair of wires and the problem went away. That connection is super solid now.
