Russians parachuting into suburbia and assaulting an occupied white house OTOH...that still stands alone.

I'm glad you could think of one because I honestly couldn't think of any that would make me feel that a middle eastern city setting had been done to death (at the time of COD4's release - now would be another story).

I've watched Red Dawn enough times in my life that Russians parachuting into suburbia feels like its been done to death.

Damn you got me wanting to go play back those missions again.

The real war in the middle east that had been going on for few years before it came out wasn't helping its case either.

If anything I think that helped it considering most people hadn't played a war game with that setting at that time. It helped make COD4 more current & realistic.

Depending how the court case goes, Black ops 2 could potentially be blocked from selling.

http://media1.gameinformer.com/image...023_IW_MOA.pdf

2008 IW contract specially says, any games in the COD franchise after vietnam war has to be cleared by West and Zempella.

Will never happen. Even in the worst case scenario, either by legal trickery or vast sums of money, blops 2 is coming out on time.

probably, but all of the profits will likely go to them.

Kotick would probably have them assassinated if that was the ruling.

Only half kidding.

Well the contract is legally binding. Activision had to give them what they wanted to keep them since MW was a cash cow, especially with negotiations with Vivadi merger at the time they couldn't lose them. Only way they could break the contract was by finding a way to fire them and also by doing so they could avoid paying them their 100mil bonus.

Here's the problem and this was BD's point-- all this is in litigation as we speak. Unless the judge orders and injunction (which is extremely unlikely given the contested nature of the case) then activision can move along with their plans to release blops2. When there is this much money involved the lawyers come into play and 9 times out of 10 these matters are settled out of court with truckloads of cash.

no doubt, legally they own the rights to Call of Duty. If they win the court case, EA/Respawn can release a CoD title.

That would be the most tragic ending to this I can imagine. I'd rather see them stop making them than let those bastards defile it.

what do you mean? They originally created Call of Duty, its their game. Only company ruining CoD is activision by milking the franchise. Adam and Zempella wanted to take a break from MW and make a new IP.

It's really only the EA part of that equation I'm disgusted by.

I don't understand the EA hate. They make video games, quality games people support. Yet they got voted most hated company in the country, above Bank of America and Goldman Sacks. People are really this dumb?

Ugh-- EA was the original Activision. Lol! Known for running franchises into the ground and their developers too. More quality studios have met their end under the heel of EA than I care to remember. I think the culture is changing (maybe Bono is spreading some of his vibe through the whole 'elevation partners' venture)-- but a large part of that change was mandated through lawsuits and violations of labor laws so don't give them too much credit!

EA is the original evil empire of video games.

They're the industry leader when it comes to anti-consumer practices.

-Online passes
-Early game server shutdowns
-Day one DLC that should have been in the game
-Unskippable advertisements
-In game advertisements
-Irritating separate EA/Origin accounts, with constant associated spam
-Purchaseable cheat codes/progression shortcuts
-Confusing, annoying preorder bonuses that ensure you'll never have the complete game
-Shipping clearly unfinished games
-Buying developers, slowly abusing and destroying the culture, making them into just another ****** sequel farm (Westwood, bioware, criterion)
-Milking their franchises just as bad as activision, except the games usually suck, ex. NFS: The run, or basically any NFS that isn't hot pursuit.

Whenever something that makes you groan happens in the gaming industry, EA is probably behind it. Activision and ubisoft make a lot of sequels, but their practices are nowhere near as corrosive.

I'm just not excited for this at all at this point. Every one of these is pretty much exactly the same....I enjoy playing them, but I'm just not all 'ooh yay!'

I'm still stoked. Bottom line, mw3 is not fun. Still can't figure out exactly what it is but the combination of lag, terrible maps, killstreak spam, hazy graphics and the absolute reliance on camping makes me just want rage quit 10 minutes into every session.

Blops introduced a lot of new features to the franchise and pruned quite a few bad ideas (that somehow made their way back for mw3, thanks IW). The game is also FUN. As long as blops 2 retains it's predecessors focus on delivering a competitive experience with clear class differentiation that places the emphasis on skill and NOT load outs-- I'll be satisfied. Here's hoping!

Black Ops II at E3 was very impressive....it looked very polished and different.

Yeah...that was definitely a step up.

I'm getting surprised that poor abused COD engine isn't just flat out refusing to render any more COD games. Talk about a work mule!

I think Activation owes ID Software a billion bucks or so.

Personally I don't think it was a very impressive showing, especially to those with an eye for the large number of level design tricks they're now using. Still, it is impressive the engine is still rocking along and allowing them that much stuff going on at 60FPS.

Not that any of that matters, MP is where COD cash cow is at.

puhleease.... we know you don't like the COD engine. but you don't need to copy and paste your tirades over and over.

I was fairly impressed, I just wish we would have gotten some more multiplayer info. Of course I'm primarily a multiplayer COD player and I really wouldn't care if COD was online only.

Yeah me too...it just isn't going to happen though. Not for a few more months.

They seemed to go a little too far away from the gunplay aspect in that demo...I hope the MP doesn't go too far in that regard.

He did run past a type 95 ACOG though...so hopefully too much hasnt changed.

I don't think FPS Russia got the whole scoop on the Quadrotor. This was leaked recently...

This is a message board, right?

Objectively it wasn't very impressive and it's age is showing if the GFX department.

Halo 4 and some of the other showings beat it out there. Don't like hearing the truth instead of the swill from the guy post conference passively mention it looked "great" and trailing off to talk about something more interesting, well, then use the ignore feature on the forum!

Graphics like that running at 60fps on 7 year old hardware isn't impressive? I don't know how you can say that with a straight face.

I hope they put out a proper 60fps trailer/demo...I wanna see that in it's full glory.
