Anyways, I paid $1,050 for the GT and got a free panny blu-ray player included. The VT will run close to 2k for the 55, while the 65 is around 2,500.

And whoever posted that the GT should be ignored needs to read up. There's a few very important things that the GT does better (and offers) that the ST doesn't.

Highly recommend the GT, even though I play on an Asus 22" monitor.
I'll amend... for ISF calibration purposes, there is very little advantage in the the GT over the ST. Dnice has been pretty vocal about it and he knows is stuff.

You want to argue somemore or come get jump bashed son?

We'll just agree to disagree smile.gif

I went the 82" Mitsu DLP 2yrs ago, had it ISF calibrated. The picture's great, but it is a beast. They didn't really have a lot of 80" flat screens then, and they cost a whole lot more as well. I would've preferred something less bulky, but I didn't have the ability to install a projector. Not gonna upgrade again til cable/sat are broadcasting in 4k. That's gonna be awhile...

I got the P60GT50 for the THX modes, including bright room mode. My TV faces 2 western windows so we get a lot of sun in the early evening and I found it nice to be able to switch to the bright room mode. I could have gotten the ST for a couple hundred less, but I would have had to calibrate it specifically for bright room viewing and then re-calibrate at night time for regular viewing, which would have been a pain. I'm happy with my purchase and I would recommend the GT to anyone.

Having it calibrated opens up ISF settings that are not otherwise available which is why it renders the THX modes useless. You would have ISF day and ISF night same as the other preset options that can be selected out of box. I'm not knocking it at all, just really depends on the intentions of the user and if they intent to have it properly calibrated.

I guess I didn't realize that was an option. Would the costs of having it 'ISF calibrated' be more than upgrading to the GT model in the first place? Just wondering for future reference.

Not to keep dragging this thread off topic, I found some pretty funny videos of this guy who uses an autotune device to make him sound like T-pain in Xbox chat. Forward to about 3:20 on the video for my favorite part. Funny shiz.

Yeah I know. One thing, almost positive (cant remember specifically what it is called) but the GT has better black levels than the ST. And I was under the impression DNice didn't run the calibration on the GT50? I went through all 130+ pages of that GT thread before I purchased. And two of the biggest things between the GT/ST were the THX modes, the black levels, and a few others.

I'll trade you my ST if you don't want it. smile.gif

These panny plasmas are great compared to everything else out there....but man I just wish they could make a panel where black is complete and total black. When all the lights are out and you're looking at a dark scene....it's just not even close to good enough. I also feel like the black levels on my ST30 aren't as good as they were a year ago. Maybe I'm just getting pickier, or do the black levels still rise over time in the newer models?
I wish Pioneer still made plasmas I love my 5080HD but want 1080p. Black levels are great on this set.
For some people the THX modes are fine and TBH they are better on this line of Pany's than many others I have seen. It really depends how much you care and how much critical viewing you do. I bought the VT because the blacks measure closest to the Kuro and beat out the GT/ST. It was a significant improvement over my previous 58PZ850. A good ISF calibration will always give you the most out of your display, I often have company asking me about me TV due to the PQ and the impressive colors. The THX modes are great but their value is pretty much negated once you open up your ISF day and ISF night settings.

D-Nice calibrate our 60" Pioneer Elite Kuro and I love it. However, I game on a 27" iMac because I find it difficult to play fps on a large screen. Also, ISF setting isn't ideal for gaming. The smaller brighter screen that I can sit close to makes a huge difference in gameplay.

I don't use ISF for gaming, I use a custom setting I set up. I believe the theory that you and others have put forth that a smaller screen = improved performance I'm just not willing to do it. I wont put the xbox in the bedroom as I'm a night owl and Mrs. Kenobi makes it to 11pm usually. I'm sure as hell not sitting at my desk and using my 27" iMac either when I can be on my sofa, although maybe I'd gripe less if I did better....hmmmm

The Season pass is 4000 MS points. Usually I think if you buy them separate they are like 1200 points maybe I don't remember .

My ISF calibrations look phenomenal on blu-ray and DirecTv, but god-awful on the 360. I use all kinds of picture enhancements that normally I'd NEVER(edge-enhance, etc.) for that input.

I game on a calibrated set and other than games not agreeing on gamma, it all looks pretty damn good to me, cod included.

I hope next gen they fully standardize it and put the the patterns right in the OS, instead of having to do it for every game.

I've the sharpness control completely off in the other 2 inputs, but 360 games are SO SOFT w/o the sharpness cranked, I can't stand looking at it.

Now you know why gamers like DNR and think movies like Patton are "reference" eek.gifwink.gif

I guess I could see that, but I'd never want to add edge enhancement to anything....yuck.

Playing with the Steel people last night we saw probably the best player stats wise to date in HC-KC. 603 SPM, with a 4+ K/D. He didn't end up playing against us, but his stats were impressive. Funny thing is, his ranking was 8k or so...I would have thought that would be top 1k easily.

Finally got my SPM over 500 last night. Haha that 49-4 game was fun, couldn't believe how long I stayed alive cycling through those 4 orbital sats.

I usually agree(DirecTv, blu, Apple TV, etc.), but trust me, w/o it on the 360 w/ my ISF settings it's unbearable. Might be the DLP tech, who knows. I've NEVER used picture enhancements on anything b4, but in this case I had to admit it looked substantively better. As far as Patton, they remastered it recently. No more wax figures for the noobs to call reference LOL.

Never pay attention to stats. Sadly they can easily be faked. Score streak wise. If you want to help your team a ton as well as rank up super fast. Use UAV+ORB+EMP. the amount of points you get is ridiculous and once you get your 1st emp. You'll see yourself up for constant emp the rest of the match. Blinding the other team will give you a huge advantage.

Got gold camo for MTAR and SMR and halfway there for Type 95. I have been seeing a lot more players with diamond camo but they are mostly SMG users.
SMG seems to be the easier its for gold. While everything else feels impossible. I don't get how so many players get diamond camos. It's insane. I'm yet to have anything diamond. And I've been trying like crazy to get em.

Not sure what the requirements are for SMGs but for Assault Rifles, it's pretty easy. 100 headshots, 10 longshots, 10 double kills, 10 bloodthirsty, 150 no attachments (this one takes me the longest because with SMR you are back to semi-auto and without quickdraw handle and fast mag, you can loose a lot of close quarter battles), 150 no perks
