Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Page 13

Did you guys just know that or did you have to look it up somehow??
Wow, I am actually impressed with this new trailer.
Can't wait. If I pay double can I have it now?

So tired of IW. Treyarch is going to show them how it's done... again.

No need to apologize smile.gif

Ok, lets get this started!

0:10 - first peek at CaC Primary has up to three attachments. Secondary has up to two - one of them is a knife. Looks like up to two of each color perk, and up to two lethal and tac grenades/equipment. And three slots on the bottom, not sure what they are.

Select fire is set on burst - nice!

Looks like he has semtex equipped. Shock nades too!

0:22 - some sort of sonar/xray scope that can see through walls, but pulses like a heartbeat sensor. Seems like he has a flash/stun equipped. Also, a stock on the SMG is optional. Has no blue perk, but two yellow perks...very cool.

0:32 LSAT (an LMG) with a hybrid scope. Also seems like a bouncing betty/mine equipped. Some sort of bullet attachment, with 100/400 bullets, maybe its extra ammo? Also, yellow sight probably means sight customization is back. Then he puts down some sort of turret thats like a heat wave, and he gets a guardian suppress. Maybe like nova gas when youre on the receiving end?

0:43 This time he has an SMG with a grip. One of the mystery slots is filled with what looks like a soldier on a headset. (wtf?) Seems like a rocket launcher as secondary?

0:54 The quadrotors are called dragonfires, and they look fully player controlled.

0:59 This dude has an AN-94 with a sight and grip, and two tomahawks. His secondary looks like some sort of radio or explosive. A scope which paints red diamonds around targets...very cool.

1:15 Now we've got a guy with a secondary revolver called a raging judge, 6 (!) perks, and three mystery slots. wtf are these things?

1:19 Now he's running around with a knife - I think its cause he's literally out of ammo, having shot his last 3.

1:25 This guy is going in with two primaries, two attachments on each, and only 2 perks...no equipment. Two mystery slots...and some sort of battery powered sniper scope, with a satellite icon on it?

1:30 Bolt action sniper rifle....with iron sights. Called a ballista, and he fires through FOUR people at once!

1:40 Shotty and some kind of C4 that needed to be armed first?

1:45 Looks like our new RC-XD is a kamikaze UAV.....

No idea how to explain the ending.....

But yeah, I definitely want to know what those mystery slots were. Looked like soliders in various poses most of the time. If not perks, then what?

No reference at all to cod points either...I wonder if thats still the progression.

Nice write up of the MP video. Lots of interesting stuff!
I'll probably give it another once over later, too busy now. I'm sure most questions will be answered by next week so I'm not going to do any hardcore forensics like I otherwise would....but I really wanna know what those mystery slots are. It's something completely new to create a class.

Absolutely love what I'm seeing so far though. Let's of new toys to play with.

The only thing I can offer any help with is that the Raging Judge is a revolver made by Taurus that fires .454 Casull rounds. They had one in a local gun shop and it's freaking huge, almost comically so. Looks like something you would see in a cartoon.

There, there's my contribution! biggrin.gif

In! Can they just release it now?
Argh, why couldn't the full reveal be today!

David Vonderhaar ‏@DavidVonderhaar

I love break down videos. I love how wrong they are. I will clarify one thing of your choice from the video in 45 minutes. Ask away.

David Vonderhaar ‏@DavidVonderhaar

You are so close yet so far away. You have all the pieces you need to figure out what those 3 boxes at the bottom of the grid are about.

@DavidVonderhaar You said one free answer. Just tell us frown.gif

@DavidVonderhaar I think they are in your 'squad', and you can have squads of up to 4. Will allow you to spawn with your friends... amirite?

@DavidVonderhaar profencies or how ever you spell it lol haha
post #371 of 4582
K, lets go deeper....I'll try my best to identify as much as I can

0:10 - the attachment he's using is select fire, looks just like a switch on the MP5. Guess its not universal then, it comes at a cost. The blue perk looks a whole lot like hardline. Yellow, maybe dead silence? Green one has some guy with a helmet…no idea. Killstreaks probably UAV, dragonfire, and attack chopper.

0:19 Definitely a stock for an attachment. Another yellow perk definitely looks like a ninja….killstreaks are the UAV again, some sort of flier…and a satellite. Probably the new SR-71. On the left it shows someone calling in a streak and says "lightning strike inbound". Also, dolphin dive and face paint.

0:32 Guy with the LSAT….I notice that even though he has two "attachments" it doesn't say LSAT customized, it just says LSAT hybrid - so I'm almost positive thats just extra ammo. No idea wtf these perks or streaks are, other than the guardian turret, which is the lowest on the list. Notice how quick he shifts between scopes, while staying aimed - I bet its toggled with the right stick, like the variable zoom sniper scope, making this way more useful than the MW3 version. On the left is says "escort drone inbound"….probably means a dragonfire tailing you like an AH-6 overwatch.

0:43 This next class has a chicom CQB, which I believe is an SMG, and doesn't have the select fire attachment, but it still says burst. So…..burst SMGs. It still shoots crazy fast though, no delay between them. Lethal slot is definitely c4. No idea what the other equipment slot or perks are, one of the streaks looks like some sort of cruise missile. Also, the sight is tinted red, so that's back too.

0:58 When he shoots the drone down, it comes crashing to the ground….so you might be able to get some collateral damage?

1:01 One of those mystery slots looks like two nades on a belt…and he has two tomahawks equipped. That secondary definitely isn't a gun either, I think it might be the riot shield. Riot shield are also now emplacements, so cover you can bring with you. Nice. The scope he's using also really blocks your peripheral, like the COD4 ACOG. Whats weird here is that when he's shooting the AN94, a regular ol assault, it doesn't look like he's shooting a normal gun. The muzzle seems to move independent of the gun, and when he gets the kill its not a gun icon. Either A - its just a weird looking gun, and he got a kill with some sort of exploding barrel or B - this sight comes with some sort of special explosive shells.

1:13 When you see the AGR blow up the car, an icon pops up like when you nade someone with flak jacket.

1:17 Guy with the raging judge. You can clearly see the dogs killstreak…my dog is going to love this game. Every time I'd call them in she'd go running around the room trying to find them. :P You can also some sort of UAV swarm….I think thats what happens at the very end. So about this crazy pistol…notice when he fires, multiple pellets come out. This monster can apparently shoot shells IRL. SHOTGUN PISTOL. He switches to knife when he runs out of ammo, and given how freeform CaC is - I bet you can opt to go without any weapon at all, so they had to come with a way for you to just hold a knife. I bet it still works the exact same way as every other cod, its just its visibility has changed. He also gets a buzz kill bonus, which only makes sense if someone loses their streak…so either assault package is back, or killstreaks are back to normal and everything is like assault. Also, whats kind of weird is that even though he's getting kills, he's not building any killstreak energy….hmmm….

1:37 Auto shotgun guy - that device he puts down? Looks like a GPS, has compass markings on it, he types some stuff in and it disappears from his inventory…thats a tac insert for sure. That shotgun is also kind of crazy…seems like he can fire a few shots before he has to rotate the barrel…so its like a hybrid auto/pump.

1:43 Shows the swarm of kamikaze UAVs - I bet thats something someone calls in, and anytime someone steps outside, one of the flock divebombs - kind of like an explosive attack chopper.

A few more observations. I think I've figured out what the mystery slots are - I think they're like perks, but very basic stat bonuses. One of them is clearly the ability to hold more than one nade. Others might be like lightweight, maybe one is armor, faster reload, ADS etc. Perks will probably be reserved for more complex abilities like ninja, hacker, hardline, etc - I also saw zero indication of pro perks anywhere - the idea might just be dead. So in essence, you have 4 perk categories - the three traditional, of which you can have up to two of each color. And the new one, which you can have up to three, and they're not color coded.

Not sure what most of these killstreaks are either, but I did find it odd the the one on the bottom before is now on the top, so they don't seem like they're in cost order. Also, the first gunfight - the first kill gets him a little energy, the next one gets him disproportionately more. The guy who rail gunned 4 people did not get 4 kills worth for sure. Each time it seems different, in that one case he got nothing at all for two consecutive kills. Its not segmented, so its probably not X number of kills exactly….but he also got nothing for shooting down the drone. I can live with that, but I hope they still give you credit for capping flags. Really dunno how this works.

I so need this game right now!

Another analysis here:

Although we disagree on many things, naturally I think I'm right and they're wrong. tongue.gif

Nothing can top the way someone cut up the minimap images to put together the full layout of two maps. Nice!

I'm seeing some say quickscoping is back based on the sniper rifle section of the video where he gets the 4-piece. I don't think that was QSing at all. He fully scopes in and shoots.

Yeah, didn't seem that quick to me either. Just looked like a good shot.

Very thorough video breakdown. He mentions it being QSing but again, I still don't see it that way.

Hmm, I totally see no video then. Old AVS was way better. frown.gif
post #382 of 4582
Checked out his breakdown. I also think he missed a lot, but I think he may be on to something with the mystery slots. I still think they're functionally minor stat bonuses, demonstrated by the nades...but they might be visible on your player and customizable.

Gonna throw a wild idea out there...what if it's like loot from diablo? Instead of just picking pants and painting them red digital, maybe under some conditions you unlock random stuff? Like every match you win, you get a mystery item, like a piece of armor that grant you +2 flash resistance, etc. I do recall Vahn saying something about how the game was going to change how you feel about winning...almost pure conjecture, but how cool would that be?

@DavidVonderhaar: <
I'm currently tracking between -0.9 to 0.35 in order to have a 20% distribution. WHAT DOES IT MEAN!

Maybe it means that's the kind of range you'd get with a random piece of gear?

@DavidVonderhaar: If u could only play what we R playing right now. Will 4ever change how u think about winning or losing. 10 days and the lid comes off.

I hope I'm right. smile.gif

Interesting idea! Would be pretty cool to get fun/useful stuff for winning matches.

In another video, someone pointed out something I hadn't seen before. When the guy uses that handheld device right before he throws the C4, if you look in the very bottom right, you can see the icon for that device disappear. He thought it must be a Tac Insert.
One guy has a helmet, a green tac vest…and red urban camo pants. Very, very uncoordinated. Next shot is another guy with a different helmet, and full green digital camo. Next you see a guy in all black. Another guy has a tac vest with no shirt, and a different pattern pants. One guy has an american flag bandana. Another guy has a blue shirt and a gas mask. Now a green camo helmet paired with a blue camo shirt. One guy has the black vest, the flag bandana, and another one covering his mouth. Green shirt, red pants. There at least 5-6 different camo patterns on display, some the same pattern with different colors. There's no rhyme or reason to any of this - this is clearly customizable, or literally the least color coordinated troops in the world.

Now this part is a bit of a stretch - the guy with the pistol, he has all three slots equipped, and you can get a good look at two of them. They really do look like soldiers in poses, showing off various gear - one looks like some sort of headgear, the other like shoulder pads. When he gets tomahawked, you can clearly see shoulder pads that look kind of out of place, and some weird sort of attachment on his helmet. The next one is hard to see, but it might be some sort of hood seen from the back. and this guy is really wearing a strange getup…red pants and a weird hooded shirt. Its honestly really hard to draw a direct conclusion cause its so hard to see the icons in this low res video.

So….I'm 100% positive that your soldier's appearance is customizable, beyond any doubt. That's pretty sweet by itself. But how you go about doing it is a different story though. I definitely think those three slots are tied into it. What it comes down to is how you get the stuff to fill those slots. The fact that theyre clearly distinguished from perks is meaningful, for them to even make it into create a class at all means theyre significant and not just cosmetic. I think random dropped loot would be a whole lot cooler than just coloring things as you please - if you could just do that, why on earth would you have a green shirt and red pants? But…..if that gear had stats attached to it, it'd make sense that you'd forgo looks for the bonuses.

all i know is i can't wait for all AVS stick and stones matches!!!
Yeah based on the 10 "slots" that you can pick and choose; I can't imagine choosing a camo pattern that doesn't impart some benefit over any other useful item/perk. I mean even if my character looks sweet in all black, I'd rather have a shock charge or whatever over black-out camo. This leads me to think that the pieces of clothing/armor/tactical wear are functional in some way to your game play.
