It a replacement of the firmware on the router, only works on very specific models, nothing made by apple. It's relatively easy configure, easier than most stock firmwares and other custom firmwares. Most routers have some type of QoS, although apple doesn't.

I either hit a plateau or something is going on with the gameplay where I can't get any medium to high score streaks going. My k/d is even suffering.

All of this router talk has me itching to maybe upgrade. It seems that majority of the time i'm lagging. Would like some advice if upgrading devices would help me.

Modem: DLink DCM-202
Router: Netgear N300 (WNR2000 v2)
Switch: Monoprice 10/100 Mbps (M108)
Xbox 360 NAT: open
All connections are hardwired.

Comparing the throughput on the Netgear to the Asus (56u, 65u, 66u) makes the Netgear a joke.
If I should upgrade the router which should I choose?

(Also unrelated to Blops but was hoping it would help fix streaming hd video with DLNA)

Have you guys noticed with any of the Sandy Ravage videos that when he is in a game, the enemy is never running at him or when they are they don't seem to be shooting at him. Also, his teammates always, always, always got his back. If he is about to get attacked from the side or rear, someone takes the enemy out.

When I a play, I am always looking at the wrong end of the barrel and it's a 50/50 chance I will survive. My teammates watches me get killed over and over. When I go for a flag, my teammate runs past me to go jerk off in a corner or some crap.

Now, I'm not even for a minute suggesting I could do as good as he does, or F1stacuffs does, but I sit there and look at their 50+ kill matches and sometimes think I could have gotten 35-40 because it often is like their enemies are just served up on a plate right in front of them. Like you, and probably 90% of others that play with randoms, my problem often is that NOBODY is playing for the team, most people will just let teammates get killed, as bait, to let themselves get a kill, and NOBODY seems to look at the mini map and say, "Ya know what, our entire rear is exposed here, maybe I should go back there, rather than staying with these three other teammates in the same spot".

That is kinda the problem with playing random public matches. Sadly, because of when I play, almost nobody on here is ever on, and unless I can play with my brother, when he comes over to the house, or my 12 year old, I always have to be the one covering the open spots, and probably my stats suffer for that, but I'm a team player and always want to win the game, so that is how I play.

I feel you man. When I started out with this game, I played care free and didn't let anything bother me and surprisingly I did really well and I had fun. Now, I am loving the game and I want to try out new things like some of the higher scorestreaks and things like that but I get frustrated because I find myself always providing support to randoms and when I don't get the same in return it makes me angry. Nothing I can do about it except bitch or find people to play with. I try to jump in games with the avs screw but that hasn't yield any successful gameplay for anyone.

Just a random tip for randoms - I've noticed when not playing with friends, the best thing to play is Search and Destroy. Even as a random I almost always get on a team where everyone is talking and calling stuff out in that game mode. With friends it's TDM FTW.

Problem with S&D is you get very little points when compared to Dom, Demo etc. If you are not trying to level then that's all well in good but for the rest of us that's bad.

Good tip except S&D is mind numbingly boring. I'd rather slog through Domination, Demolition, or TDM with randoms than play S&D with a party.

2nd that. I run and gun and when I die, i want to be able to respawn and continue on with the carnage. I just can't sit still and wait for something to happen. It's so boring and probably one of the reasons I don't use sniper rifles in the game.

I am in Chalupatron as well and never get invites anymore. The only person I've played with from AVS in a while is jitu and we had a good time. I play with a few non AVS guys and have a good time as well. So if you want to play feel free to add me as well.

And plug an ethernet into the back of the router and into the jack for use downstairs?

Does that make sense?

They make coax adapters that will run 100mb service through coax and still have TV on that line

I would love to get on that early but as soon as I come home from work, I get my workout out of the way so I can have dinner on time. Don't want to eat past 6pm so that's why i wont be able to get on xbl early. After 9 or 10 is when I am able to get on, however, weekend is open season biggrin.gif

My win streak isn't anything great. I think it's 7. Something low. WIn ratio is 1.01. I don't get it. What's wrong with someone posting a good game? It's not like I do that every day. I've gotten that high maybe 3x. Highest being 143-6. I play hardpoint. Not Dom. Swarms are easily 80% of my kills in game.

  • Hard Point -Carrier
  • PDW - Long Barrel
  • Ghost - Hard Line
  • Scavenger
  • Dexterity
  • C4


I can't play Domination for the life of me. I find Hard Point the best mode. Also easier to keep a high SPM. Score Streaks are VSAT-DOGS-SWARM

Get swarms once and it becomes pretty easy to loop them over and over.
