So if there's anything specific you guys want to know or test, let me know, and I'll do my best.

I love hardcore mode, but typically it has a lot of camping, hardcore kill confirmed solved that issue for me. I had an absolute blast playing it in mw3.

It couldn't hurt. They always talk about how they definitely listen to the COD community.

The locale/latency thing is just like I thought it'd be - you can choose between best, normal or any. Best limits matchmaking to only good connections (assumedly 4 bars), normal is a balance, and any is just throw me in a game ASAP.

I'm pretty sure you use a headset, how is the surround sound in comparisons to the other call of dutys ? Footsteps ? Also, what's you take on the boards, are they similar to black ops, or mw3?

Sound is like black ops, just sounds a little better. Footsteps aren't as easy to hear as mw3. Boards are like black ops.

Basically, it feels like a sequel to blops. I know that sounds like the most obvious thing ever....even though it looks like mw3 in screens and videos, it feels and plays like blops.
So now some bad news.

As far as I can tell, the really detailed combat record is gone. There's just a really shallow overview instead. You have to launch the elite app to see stuff like weapon performance, past games, etc.

Which of course, doesn't work yet.

And probably won't for a month after launch.

Awesome.

Since there is no M60, is there at least a LMG in BO2 that sounds so amazingly sexy as the M60 in blops? Please tell me there is.
Nah, none sound or feel like the m60. They all shoot pretty fast. The HAMR is kind of crazy actually...first few shots come out pretty quick then it slows down considerably.
Hmm...I actually just got an update and now there's a lot more in combat record. It's like 75% of what was there in blops now, just no heat maps or graphs.

How do you like the Pick 10 system?
Lag/Hit detection?
Ok, here's something really stupid, that they HAVE to patch out. In multi team, if one of the teams leave...it ends in a draw after 20 seconds.

Lag feels fine, although I've never really had a problem with it and im not really sensitive to it when it happens, so take that as you will. Feels like blops.

TBH I never really liked the idea of pick 10 and I still don't. You're confronted with too many choices, everything has to be a tradeoff, and all the balance and nuance is gone. Few people are using nades or tacticals. No one is shooting down streaks. Everyone has fast mags instead of pistols. You might be able to make your perfect class, but I think the metagame really suffers as a result.
It will be interesting to see when millions of people get their hands on it, what the most popular set ups are for the Pick 10 system.

I've never understand people not shooting stuff down. I always do. Not only does it help your team but it gets you alot of points as well.

Did you use the Theater at all in Blops? How does it feel in this game? I did not like it in MW3. I have read that you can click one button to make a highlight reel for your game.

Yeah, we'll see how it evolves. It's different, so it feels fresh, still not convinced its better.

The theater seems like an improved version of blops. Ive never been big into it but its clearly a solid evolution. When you pick the highlight reel you basically see it run through the game in fast forward, actually takes quite a while, like 3-5 minutes for a ten minute game. Then it shows you up to 20 clips it selected, basically your best kills or clutch captures. Everything is first person, nothing really dramatic.

That's the default at least. You have lots of options...you can filter who gets included, types of moments, how many clips, how great the moment was, etc.

It seems really, really cool if you're into this kind of thing.

Sweet. I believe on one of the Live streams they said you could basically use that highlight reel as a jumping off point because you could further edit the highlight reel. I can't wait to throw some tomahawks and then edit it to attach the camera directly to the tomahawk. smile.gif

Feel free to post any other interesting info, as long as it's not spoilers. biggrin.gif

Ya don't worry, no spoilers from me. So some random observations:

ADSing is faster by default, feels like MW3+quickdraw. The handle isn't really essential on anything but an LMG. It makes the LMGs useable, and makes the ARs/SMGs practically instant ADS.

The laser sight is actually way better than steady aim, because the physical sight helps you really get it dead center and make more shots hit. It's not like bf3 where it blinds them or the enemy can see it in any way.

Recoil in general is much more like blops than mw3, but it does feel slightly reduced from blops 1. The SMGs kick a lot and take a lot of hits at distance...the mp7 is far from a laser.

The ACOG doesn't seem to reduce your accuracy anymore, so it's actually viable like it was in MW3. And the MMS does say it reduces accuracy...but I can't tell the difference for ****.

The starting perks in general seem really lame...all the good stuff like ghost and scavenger is locked to higher levels.

The maps overall seem competent, I have no idea where I'm going though lol. Will take a few weeks to really judge them, but none really stand out. I def like express. The one on the boat (hijacked) is crazy frantic, a lot of getting shot in the back. But in general....the spawns seem good.

Man, I can't wait to play! I really wish this had come out last week as my wife is away all weekend. Then again, I may have been up all night after putting my daughter to bed. Maybe it's a good thing. biggrin.gif

What's your take on how things unlock with the tokens? Does it seem like you really need to make tough decisions on what to unlock?

Did you try out any of the Combat training with the bots?
Tried the party games for a bit. You can now get dropped right in the middle of one since there's nothing on the line, and they are now up to 8 players.

Gun game is basically the same. Sharpshooter slightly different, since you don't unlock the same perks. Not enough people were playing the others.

You get XP, but its very little, like 10-20% of what you'd get in standard matches per kill. You still get weapon XP too, but I dunno if that's reduced too.

None of the party game kills seem to be a part of combat record, nice.

I also dont know if im going to run into problems. I got used to two attachments (supressor, and red dot, except for a few guns where i found iron fine, mainly smg's and the odd AR) and stalker In mw3, to use this combo in op2 i loose alot of slots. I cant remember but i think all I have beside my gun is a knife and grenade.
Loosing perks and trying to make perks more modest in blops 2 does not seem a hole lot different, since some are now simply in attachment form, I do like how the perks are setup in this one, quite a bit. But i feel the attachment options now are to much, so instead of perks giving you a huge advantage in previous ones, now attachments can do that. I am all for gun customization, but I kind of wish they got rid of attachments that give you an advantage. Things like quickdraw, and even stalker which i use all the time are now in attachment form. I always find those give you an advantage in the game if you use them. I kind of wish they would simply make attachments customization options instead of making you better or giving you an advantage of aiming quicker ect...

I watched an interview where they said they did this for a reason. Now each attachment can be customized(when coding) for every gun. So instead of 1 perk where you are trying to make it apply somewhat equally across all weapons you now have a specific attachment for each weapon and they can code it as such. Makes sense to me. I'll have to see how I feel after playing it.

I'm not crazy about the tokens either...but it hasn't been a huge impediment to me because I don't plan on unlocking most of the killstreaks. I haven't been able to just try out every new thing I've unlocked, which Id like to...but I've been able to unlock everything I've felt was essential. The decisions haven't been tough, but you do have to pick and choose.

Haven't played with the bots, that mode is for noobs. tongue.gif

In Blops, when no one else was online, I would sometimes play that instead of with randoms in MP. The bots don't talk/act like idiots. biggrin.gif

Well, you'll be glad to know that you can now press one button in the lobby and mute all but party. smile.gif

Very cool. In MW3, I would just never wear my headset. Of course you could still hear idiots through the speakers.

I wish I'd known that earlier. Buy it now price $55 including shipping on eBay, but it wouldn't get here til Tuesday anyway. I take it these stores are small/independently owned, so they can stay under the radar while breaking the street date w/o consequence...

BD, do you have to prestige or can you just sit at level 55? I have always rolled it over so IMHO, I think it should constantly roll and not allow anyone to just sit at 55. smile.gif

I can't imagine it forces you, but if you do that, you'll never be able to unlock everything. You just won't have enough tokens.

I tried the 3D mode. The resolution stays pretty much the same, and the frame rate stays surprisingly good. But OMG the effect is so strong, especially on your gun...it just instantly makes your eyes bleed. I usually love 3D, but without a slider, its almost unusable as it is.

I'm not huge fan of 3D movies, but I've never played a game in 3D. I really want to experience that, especially with a FPS.

This isn't the one to start. 3D FPS usually looks great, but the original blops looked much better in 3D. So did killzone 3. Something just seems off about this.

I also really like the camos and recticles in this one. The camos are really detailed...you unlock them via headshots with each gun, so it takes a loooong time. I'm not great with headshots so I only have the first one for the MTAR and I've got like 100 kills with it.

The recticles are unlocked via getting kills with them, regardless of gun. They're a lot thinner and more detailed than the old ones, where anything but the red dot was so obstructive it was useless. These are all pretty good, and the eotech actually looks right for once. You can't pick the color, but each one is a diff color. Although it is kinda precious that some of the sights are for bullet drop, which the game doesn't have of course.
