Hi,

For a change wife is in agreement and wants a 3D. I guess out budget will only allow us to go upto 55", so I need to model number and names of brands which I should be looking at in my research. Budget is $1500.

Kindly suggest which ones have the best bang for the buck? Vizio, Samsung, LG

There's lots of experience here to tap for recommendations. I've had a Samung 3D plasma, PN58C8000, for a year and a half, and I'm not very happy with the 3D -- I very seldom use it. I do get the 3D effect and there's not too much aliasing, but the picture is rather dim and the colors look unnatural. I don't like it. (2D on the set is fine, though.)

55"? For about 2/3 of your budget, you can get a 73" Mitsubishi DLP 3DTV.

Just saw the 55" LG LM6200 for $1199 on Frys website. It is a lower model in there line but looked pretty good from the demos I have seen at the store.

When it comes to enjoyable 3D two things are very important. No ghosting/Crosstalk and large size.

In general as for tv tech, tests have shown DLP to be the only tech that is ghost/crosstalk free. The new high end Plasma's by Panasonic are suppose to be near DLP ability. LCD or LED/LCD is the worst of the 3. Due to the fastest pixel change of a LCD is 2ms and Plasma and DLP both are a few thousand time's faster. Sofor the limited budget I agree with Augerhandle and recomend looking into the Mitsubishi DLP's.
No tech is perfect they all have a draw back. Research and decide what draw back least effects you.
