No, not that I'm aware of... I asked the same question and was refered to the following movies "Sucker Punch" and "Rise of the Plant of the Apes". I only saw it in Sucker punch, I think, it was very very faint... and again even then I'm unsure.

but can you please tell me in what scene you saw FBr ?

i don't know your definition of download, but you will need good quality, a torrent file probably won't work. I'd rent it.

Anyway, I wish I could be more precise but it seems to happen with the first 30 minutes of the movie, like when our Herione walks through a door you/or at least me could see a very faint shift. (and this has been the only movie or program, so far, which is outstanding because i've watched my set a lot.)

On another note, I am very picky and sold a S2 because of floating blacks and in comparsion since Panny released the patch the FBr are next to non-existant. If it were me I'd be more concerned about the Green blob/pink tint issues especially if you're still within the return period.

Ps i'll be honest mine was so faint it's not worth looking for...

This worked for my ST30 (which has now had an A board swap). Play Pandora app. Wait until it goes into screen saver mode. If your panel suffers from FBr, you will see the background lighten and darken noticeably depending on where the rotating screen image is and how much of the screen it takes up.
If your panel is post-FBr fix you may still see shifts, but they will be subtle and only 1 to 2 times per full rotation.

FYI: According to Panasonic, only models manufactured up to August 2011 require the new software. Models manufactured after that have been updated and not considered defective.

Just check the build date on the back of your TV. If it's August or newer than it's up to date, in which case don't go looking for FBr because even if you do find it there's nothing else you can do to reduce it any further so why bother looking?

Hi randy,

One reason it might be worthwhile to go looking if he is still in the return period-ie- grab an St50, etc. When I first got my set I examined it very very closely....because I never want to have to deal with floating blacks again, or any other annoying flaw I could not get use too... Floating blacks, Ouch

But they don't make the ST50 in his 42" size. The 42" ST30 was the last and best 42 incher that we'll ever see and is a keeper. If it's a pre-August build, then it's worth keeping and having Panasonic update the A-Board.

Ah, what country?

The TC-P42ST30 was available in North America for all of 2011 until it was discontinued. Panasonic decided to not make a 42" ST50 for 2012 but maybe they offer it in your country?

I have the GT30 and I used the same technique you mentioned above to see the FBr. You don't need to use the Pandora app though. Anything that causes the screen saver to kick on. I used Amazon Instant Video app, but just being in Viera Connect will eventually cause the screen saver to start spinning. My GT30 is a March build. After the FBr fix, this change in background color went away.

Well if you end up with a unit that was built between Feb 2011 and July 2011 and you see FBr, you have three possible options: (A) Keep the set and try not to look for FBr or not let it bother you when you see it, (B) return the TV to the retailer, (C) contact Panasonic UAE and see if they offer the FBr patch or A-Board swap warranty visit that "fixes" it like they do here in the USA.

But if you get one built after August 2011, it already has the "Fix" built in and the TV should be fine.

I bought my 55" ST30 at Sears and specifically asked for their latest shipment, which turned out to be in November and I got an October set. If it were me (and your not buying online) I'd ask your retailer what their latest shippment was... it worked for me.

But if your not Set on a 42' I still recommend swinging for the ST50.
