For the vizio vs LG question. The picture head on with vizio in my opinion is freakn awesome but you literally have to be right in front of it or the PQ drops very quickly. I didn't have as much of a problem with the LG. With LG you get a much higher contrast ratio and 2d-3d conversion. PQ is just better with LG also with LG there are way more choices with the smart function and it has a browser so you can surf the internet with it. I've own both and i am a fan of both so i am not showing favortism when I say this but I say LG mainly due to the picture fading like it does on the vizio when you just move slightly to the left or right of the screen and smart features. THIS DISCUSTION NEEDS TO BE CARRIED OVER TO THE 6500 THREAD OR THE VIZIO TREAD FROM THIS POINT. For the comparison of the LG 6500 and 6200 idk it just seems they put more into the 6500 that they aren't doing now with the new ones but again I read a good article that said numbers aren't everything, so pretty much if it looks good to you then its good regardless to what the numbers come up to.

I'm still kinda on the fence if i wanna get the 6200 still because it is newer and i really don't think LG would go backwards I'm sure they would have made improvements in the newer model. I did read that one of the main things that was improved on was the 3d and that's a big thing i really enjoy the 3d so do my kids. I still have a couple weeks to decide what to do. The 6200 def isn't a step back from the 6500 its gotta be as good or better in some ways if not all like I said knowing LG I really don't think they would go backwards in the game and make the 2012 model any less as amazing as the 2011 models.

Can anyone confirm whether you get turn off the Soap Opera Effect (SOE) on the 65LM6200?

I want to order this TV but neither my wife nor I can stand the SOE that we have seen on some LCD/LED TVs.

Thanks in advance if someone can verify this information.

While there are settings that suggest you can turn off the TruMotion which I would presume creates the SOE, I cannot say that turning the setting off actually eliminates the SOE. I've tried it at varied levels and off completely yet to some extent there appears to be some SOE (see later post for follow-up viewing/testing results). I'd suggest you have a sales rep in a store demonstrate it for you further to see if it can be eliminated to your satisfaction. As I'm coming from a 720p rear projection LCD to a LED-LCD I don't know if perhaps this is just the way it looks naturally.

I would like to know about this as well. Can SOE aka True-motion in LG be turned off completely?

As a follow-up to the earlier post, I was coincidentally watching a movie with TruMotion active and so went ahead and reviewed certain scenes with both active and inactive TruMotion. There is a distinct difference. With TruMotion turned off the picture is still very clear but the SOE is very much minimized. The clarity of the HD picture is still striking but without TruMotion you can clearly see more of the 'grain' of the picture and it is lots more film-like and less like video. I will say that I think I've grown accustomed to at least some SOE and kind of find it appealing. The nice thing about the settings in this set is that you can set it at several different levels to suit your taste. Again, I'd certainly test it out in a store first if you find SOE offensive or at least want to confirm that it can be reduced/eliminated to suit your needs.

Hello everyone. I just recently bought the 55lm6200 and I can't find the trumotion settings. I tried under picture settings , Advanced control,....everywhere!! I called LG and they were useless. Please help!! Thanks

On the 65lm6200 the settings are accessible as follows:
Settings
Picture
scroll down to Picture Option
Click on Picture Option and the box with Noise Reduction, black Level, Real cinema and TruMotion pops up.

The frame of the 65lm6200 is matte black, the screen is quite reflective.

So I received my 47LM6200 this past Saturday, there is no Trumotion option anywhere. However it seems like it may be off (no sense of SOE) in most cases with the exception of playing 24hz HD content from USB or DLNA. In those cases is seem very subtle as if its not set to max like you see on the store wall. Also an update seems to have come out yesterday which I did but don't know what it actually changed. Though DTV seems to have slightly degrade clarity and rerunning Picture Wizard II gave me a different Tint value.

What's the overall opinion on the 65LM6200? Is it better than the 65LW6500? How is the 2D picture quality?

Obviously the 2011 model is on clearance prices but I don't like buying older models.

I got my 65lm6200 few hours back. 2D looks very good without tunning(take it with a grain of salt: i upgraded from a 2005 pana plasma).

2d-3d conversion is no go for my family( they couldnt take it for more than few minutes) will most likely never use that feature.

The screen is glossy but reflection is much better than my old plasma - not so bad for me. I have a very bright room with big windows.

Seems surprising that the 65lm6200 would have an easily accessible setting for TruMotion and other sizes in the series would not. Has anyone found the TruMotion settings in the sizes below 65 yet?

Not sure we have that many 65lm6200 owners yet to make a broader opinion. We have only two (incl. myself) owners in this forum so far.

The picture looks as good or better than the LW6500 models I have seen so far. Granted I haven't looked side-by-side these two models.

ShowMeADeal - Since you are coming from a Plasma and have just gotten the 65", can you tell me if you can see any SOE on this TV.

Also, is the bezel glossy or matt?

Yes, i do see some SOE. It comes and goes - i am not sure what kind of source enables SOE. Bezel is super matt( looks like brushed black metal).

Unlike most of the world, I love the SOE. However, I own the 55" lm6200 and I still can't find the 120hz trumotion setting in order to turn it on. I have my tv connected via hdmi running to an hdmi receiver. Where my cable box and PS3 are connected. I thought it might have been the reason I couldn't locate the setting, so I ran the hdmi cable directly from the cable box to the tv but no luck. I'm beginning to think LG is false advertising on this particular screen size and model #. I really appreciate everyone trying to resolve this issue. I hope someone can give us a definite answer regarding the option. Thanks.

Have you tried these steps in the Expert1, Expert2, Standard and Cinema modes...? TruMotion is readily accessible on the 65 in all of these modes. There is no uncertainty in that regard. It seems that the current consensus is that every other option exists except for TruMotion on the sub 65" models. I have the 47" and have checked in Standard and Expert Mode Menus to no avail. Though I can tell that the function exists in the TV regardless of not being able to configure it, as per my earlier post.

Anyone using logitech harmony remote with this new model ? Logitech have 47 & 55 in its database but with limited commands.

I am trying to add "Aspect" command without much success. Since we get only magic remote with this model I can't train/teach commnads not covered in logitech database.

B/W I started liking magic remote much more. It is better than similar magic remote for Roku.

@hibeta that is correct, I have tried all picture option presets and NONE of them provide you the option to turn on/off trumotion. Blkspade said it best. I called LG last Sat, and once more today. The rep read my notes and said a tv engineer is still working on my "issue" and said will call me back as soon as they get more information. I remember at one point the original rep from Sat told me that "eye care" was the new name for trumotion and I laugh when the guy told me that because that couldn't be more false. I just hope the chip inside is 120hz capable and a mere software update can resolve that option. Thanks everyone for trying to help with this issue. I will be making a quick youtube video and post the link for everyone on the site.

The consensus was referencing other's posts in this thread. As for the options the same ones you've listed under Picture Options minus TruMotion. I'm not home atm, but by memory its Noise Reduction, Mpeg Noise Reduction, Real Cinema, and Black Level. Edit: Eyecare is in there somewhere, but it seems dynamically adjust backlight when its on. And it is mentioned in another thread here, but by some of the same people in this one.

On the 65 the options within the Picture Option submenu are in sequence: Noise Reduction...MPEG Noise Reduction...Black Level....Real Cinema....Eye Care...TruMotion. Eye Care is greyed out...I can't figure out what it is or how to activate it.

Ordered my 65LM6200 this morning. Will be here Friday. Can't wait. Also my local Electronics store got one in last night so I got to see it hanging today. It's very nice (don't like the stand but I am going to hang it anyway)
