These will probably change more in the future as I'll be constantly trying to get better results. Look for an update in August when I get back from vacation.

I used these on my 65 LM6200 last night. Very good settings. I look forward to your additional tweaks. Please post when done.

Has anyone noticed that the EPG doesn't display current or upcoming programs for any channel except the current one? The only fix I can find is to manually cycle through 1 channel at a time... Very frustrating...
Also, does anyone have any recommended picture settings for this model? Thanks.

I'm in Aus as well and have a 65LM6200 and the guide works just fine without having to cycle the channels.

Does anyone know if this set can play MKV files by using a flash drive with the USB port?

My own way of calibrating my 65LM6200 is to point my 3D cameras outside the window and view the live 3D feed on the TV and compare what the TV shows to what I see out the window. So far they compare quite favorably.biggrin.gif

O.K. maybe it was gloating.rolleyes.gif
I just thought it was an interesting way to calibrate.
I could post numbers but I don't know if they would be particularly relevant since the input is from a dual DVI input combiner, not a BluRay player or similiar.
Nevertheless, the 3D this TV produces is by far the best I've ever seen and I've seen a lot.

I found the picture produced by these settings to be very visually similar to the Cinema mode picture on the 65.

I am becoming less enchanted by the set. When watching HDTV channels, I often see big fluctuations in color saturation. In other words, I am watching a show and when they go from one scene to another the colors can appear to "wash out"...become almost cloudy and with no pop. Then, in the next scene, they look fine again. I don't know if it is an auto adjustment thing the set is doing or what. I don't think so. I have it on Expert settings where I tweaked some things and I even think Energy Savings is in an off mode since I adjusted the Backlight option.

It is very hard to get consistency in colors across the board on this set...they seem to vary from station to station and just when I think I have them pegged, I switch channels and the PQ goes way down. I know some of this may be due to the actual broadcast quality at times...some stations are worse than others (TBS and TNT are particularly bad), but on a set this size all imperfections are easy to spot!

Lastly, I do see some artifacting in dark scenes...where the black background sort of gets pixelized a bit. Again, this seems to be on only some channels. By the way, judder when panning in a scene seems prevalent. What setting cuts down on this?

I've also seen the pixelation in the black areas that you mention. I find that going back to the settings and playing around with contrast, backlight and brightness can substantially reduce or eliminate the pixelation. Don't give up yet....I spent several hours the past few days tweaking my expert settings again and I think I've improved the picture that I thought was already quite good.

As to color fluctuation across channels...yep. Big time. I've got the expert settings each set a bit differently to compensate though and for me it seems to be working ok.

That's good to know. I'll keep trying. Would love to see your latest settings!

don't forget, your cable/satellite box might also be doing some up/down/side conversion, depending on what your settings are. my DTV, for instance, converts everything to 1080i if it's not a 1080p show (very rare unless I buy on-demand movies) so if it was originally broadcast at 720p, there's one extra conversion before it even reaches the TV.

and then, there's the problem of the original source.... was this a show that was filmed in HD or has there been additional upconversion done even before it gets to your cable/sat/etc.

Given all those variables and that 65" is just so big you do see all the flaws, it might be hard to calibrate with broadcast material... bluray or dvd should give you better control

hmm, i'm starting to sound like an apologist.

Ok, these settings seem to work well for shows with deep color...like some of the shows on SyFy, live action shows, etc.

Completely different from the Cinema setting which has a much warmer picture.

Backlight: 55
Contrast: 72
Brightness: 58
Color: 56
under Expert Control:
Dynamic Contrast: Medium
Color Gamut: BT709
Gamma: 2.2
under White Balance:
Color Temp: Medium
Method: 2pts
Pattern: Outer
Points: Low
under Picture Option:
Black Level: Low

All other values at zero except Trumotion...set to taste.

If you try these settings...try shows as mentioned and view from dead center. Does show significant color fade as angle of viewing widens.

Has anyone been able to get the Android App "LG Service Menu Explorer" to work with an xx LM6200?
I have been trying and the app will not locate my 55LM6200 on the network even after entering the IP address.
For anyone with the 47LM6200 in the US the firmware update adding Trumotion is now available here http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-47LM6200# as well as through the menu on the Tv

How is the TruMotion feature on this set? Do we get several levels to set it to emulate those soap opera picture? I know from using this sort of feature in Samsung they have like a low, mid, high, off options when dealing with the soap opera effects.

Negative. I've tried with my 65LM6200 without success. The dash button on my Vizio remote pulls it easily though. Not much is gained though, as most of the options are greyed out.

If you set the TruMotion setting to User it allows you to change it from 0-10, ten making the soap opera effect very strong 0 making it off.

Like Heavytoka said, there's a range from 0-10. For me, I find User: 3 to be a great setting and a excellent balance between smoothness without introducing SOE or artifacts. I'm not aware of any other TV on the market which offers this feature with a 10% incremental adjustment. I believe anyone can find their preferred look because of the range and it sets LG apart from others because of the level of control. The frame doubling technology bar was raised as a result. Also, with different programming ie: Animation and live action, you'll likely want to fine tune it. With this set, you can absolutely fine tune based on the source media/genre. I wish it was a main menu item, or dedicated remote button instead of a sub menu of a main menu item you need to scroll down to... But hey, you can't have every single thing you want, and since the feature works so well, it doesn't qualify as an issue to even bring up, just a preference and wish I have. Perhaps I can manipulate the Harmony remote to have a soft button to make this happen. biggrin.gif

Is there anyway to tell what the latest firmware update addresses? I got one on 6/28...

Chris
I wondered that too Chris. I briefly looked for a change log but didn't find one. TruMotion was already enabled on the 65", so I was wondering what we actually gained.

For the 65 you can look here for what each firmware update does http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-65LM6200 the update notes show it was for TruMotion so maybe even though the 65 already had it enabled they just pushed the update to all the models so they were on the same firmware #

I've noticed artifacts on both Dish (VIP 722k) and DirecTV (HR34). I don't see ANY artifacting when viewing Blu-rays. I used Disney WOW to calibrate my 65LM6200 and I found that the 16:9 aspect ratio scales the picture and created alot of scaling artifacts in the screen test. I was able to achieve an unscaled picture by using the Just Scan aspect ratio for all inputs. Hope this helps...

I just received firmware update 03.21.40 this morning (7/1/12) for my 65LM6200. I was wondering what the change log was on this...I've seen random restarts on this set since day one and got a swap out by HH Gregg only to have the same thing on the replacement so I can only assume it's firmware related.
Me either...tried to get a refund but they wouldn't do it. Rip off! Don't buy the Service Menu Explorer app.

What a couple of douchebags those guys are. Almost all they focused on was the magic remote and what they assumed was faulty color reproduction. The one guy even dismissed the notion that the set they received might be at fault. How about reviewing the "increasingly popular" 65 inch set to see if it was just the 55 inch set? What about its 3d capabilities? How about getting it calibrated to see if it just might be that LG tailored the set for calibration instead of out of box performance? A very cursory review lacking any type of real in depth technical analysis aside from a couple bar graphs. They seem like a couple of videophile dipsticks that are hung up solely on a narrow set of numbers.

I am having a problem with my 55LM6200 rebooting. It seem to happen at random intervals. LG has replaced both the Power and Logic boards but it still does this. I have tried to isolate the problem by swapping my Directv box with another one. Even taking the receiver/amp out of the equation by connecting the DTV box directly to the TV and using the built in speakers. Still rebooted after about 6 hour or so. Does the same with the PS-3 connected directly so it is not any of the connected equipment. Even tried a different surge protector as well as being on a UPS.

Any other ideas or is anyone else having problems with this model rebooting at random?

I used the WoW disc as well and posted my settings in the 6200 owners thread. Post your settings if you get a chance, I'd like to see what you came up with compared to my results. I really couldn't get the whites right without bumping the contrast all the way up. Black levels are really good. I'll admit though, the color adjustments gave me fits and I'm still not 100% satisfied yet.

Yes, I experienced random restarts with my 65LM6200 and I had HHGregg swap it out only to experience the same thing with the replacement. It's very intermittent, only once in a while. I haven't opened a service ticket with LG yet because I was waiting for a firmware update which came down yesterday. I have yet to have a random restart but if it continues I'll likely call LG. Keep us posted on your saga.

I really haven't had time to go thru an in-depth calibration but I posted my settings further back in this thread so if you sift thru the posts a few pages back you should find them. Once I get further into the WOW disc I'll post my final settings here once again.
