Good morning, folks. An update and a question on my issue. After watching other TVs I recently came to the conclusion that the banding on my 47LM6200 is worse than most when it shows up. Video games are the worse as looking left to right in the third person and first person shooters creates that wonderful pan and Dirty Screen Effect. Out of curiosity I contacted LG support mentioned the issue as Banding and DSE and told them it was on all of my connections and without hesitation she placed a service appointment at a place nearby to come and take care of it. I don't know how well trained the support staff is, but she made it sound like I shouldn't be seeing this at all. Very friendly, though.
The guy they called just left and here's where my question comes in. I told him the issue, I showed him the issue, and he nodded his head in recognition. He said what many of you have said and that is the LED tvs have this problem a lot. Now here's the kicker. When I mentioned that I was looking this stuff up on line, he asked me what they said about it. I told him that I read it 'could' be a panel issue affecting some batches of tvs. Immediately, he said, "Let's change the panel," ordered the part, and was on his way. I'm under warranty so this doesn't cost a dime to me, but I was surprised that it seemed like he was going with my solution (the guy who Googled some stuff) rather than make it sound like it was his own (the guy that fixes tvs for a living). He basically said changing it out would at least give me peace of mind, but that's not what I was looking for. I want a tv that works properly. So the question is: Has anyone here ever sought to fix a more severe banding problem on there tv with a panel switch and did it work to make the picture better? Right now I don't if he's doing it for the hell of it (because I said so) or if this is a step towards fixing the problem.
I've always appreciated the feedback on here. Thanks!
