I think I may post on the Oppo 93 thread to see if anyone else spots this. Dave Vaughan actually saw this on his LCD but not on his Plasma/PS3 combo. It seems that projectors regardless of the BD player do not show this.

I'm watching on a 65" Panny plasma, ISF/THX calibrated. It's most definitely an encoding issue, I've seen enough of that to know it when I see it. Smaller displays might be harder to catch it on.
In the early part of the sand storm there's a couple shots looking down narrow alleys with a lot of variation in the color of the dust, the posterization is pretty obvious but only for a few seconds. I thought I was watching on DirecTV for a bit. There's also macro-blocking in those scenes, but it's much less apparent due to the nature of the images. I can see it on my 24" LCD PC monitor also.

No disrespect to Dolby of course, but DTS seemed to have gained a leg up over the last 3 years or so in the Home Theater arena, but this has to be the most natural sounding, convincing mix in sometime and is long over due. We all know that DTS Master and Dolby True HD can deliver the goods on bass slam and sheer uncut dynamics
Kudos to Dolby True HD on this one. It's now on my top five of all time
