Agreed, Jim is an asset to the forum. Thanks Jim!

Wow, thanks for the kind words, from all of you. That was very gracious. Guess I better get busy on this Rumba evaluation, eh?

Any other recommendation that meets my criteria while I am waiting on Jim's Rumba review? Thanks.

The SB12-NSD is a good sub, but if you want more to check out in the meantime here are a few... Some of these might be close on size, or cost a bit too much, but if nothing else it's more potential alternatives.

Murrel is definitely the hero there - it's hard to imagine you'll find anyone who has a problem with him.

I can personally attest to the fact that the sub is built like a tank, and it truly is that heavy. The driver is massive, and epitomizes the definition of over-built. The thing has a ton of excursion too.

Murrel has been trying to get it tested at various on-line mags, but thus far has been thwarted in his efforts. That might be changing shortly though. He also could be working on another sub that he'll be selling in the not too distant future, but I won't say anything else on that either...

Jim

First thanks for all of your time and effort on all of the reviews! I know how much work it is. And I appreciate the fact that you also know how much work it is to get a product to the market.

Reviews are hard to come by ..it has taken almost a year for me to get to this point. So I am looking forward to your results and opinions.

I had to laugh at the web site comments. And I agree. But when you are a small operation you tend to do as much as you can with what you have. I will say it was the first web site that I have ever built so it is about as good as it gets for now. I don't even want to try to add up the hours I spent trying to figure out how it all works. In the end it was a great learning experience.

If anyone would like to have more info or background on myself or the Rumba 12 please feel free to give me a call. My personal cell number is on the front page of my web site. I am available most of the day and into the early evening.

Thanks
Murrel

Jim,
Are you ready to RUMBA? Are you almost done with the Rumba 12 review? I have been patiently waiting. Thanks.

I'm getting close. I've been pounding on it for two weeks now, and have taken copious notes. I'm just about done with the evaluation itself, at which point I'll write the actual review.

I appreciate your patience - I understand how hard it is to wait for something like this. It won't be too much longer. Honest...

Quick question Jim, due to space constrain, is the 16" height measured at the sub edge? From picture, that is the tallest point. Thanks.

It's the side panels that are 16" high. The front and rear panels are 15.5" tall, so they're a 1/4" lower on the top and bottom. That's without the spiked feet though.

Great. My TV stand is exactly 16" tall sitting inside the alcove. The sub will go under the TV stand inside this alcove. I might need to raise the TV stand by 1/2 an inch to avoid the sub touching the stand if I decide to go with the Ruma. All of this still depends on your review. Thanks.

Trust me, you don't want the Rumba touching the TV stand. It has the ability to hit pretty hard, and that would more than likely create a significant amount of resonance. Oops, I accidentally gave away a little of the review...

BTW; how big is your room? I noticed an earlier post where you mention it being larger then 14x18x10, but not how much larger is it.

it is my family room that open to the living room kitchen and nook. Size wise in total probably more than twice as big as my other room (14x18x10). I know it is hard to fill that size of room with just one sub, but i just want something better than the Klipsch SW310. Thanks.

I just finished the rough draft, so barring any complications it shouldn't be more then a few days until I can post it. Almost there...
