I realize that. It's the VOLUME level of the buzzing that's a factor.

If the buzzing too loud.. Then return the unit. I have friends with VT30s that you can hear buzzing from 3 ft Away..

I have a Kuro elite that buzzes as well. With normal volume. I don't notice it

I wonder why- although the Panasonic TV's plays many file formats- they don't play the most popular avi's (divx and xvid).

Or for that matter wmv.

One thing the GT has over the ST is the dual core processor. If you plan on using any of the so-called 'smart' TV features, this will make a significant difference.

I'm wondering if the dual core processor will do anything for the video processing?

I took that 15 seconds ago while downloading a patch for uncharted 2 (on ps3). The grey downloading background shows the flaw off perfectly. Btw, I live in Detroit MI. NA owners are just blind.

I already admitted that I was very very wrong on this .

That does look horrible. That would drive me crazy. Does anyone know the cause of this, or at least have heard a theory? I'd imagine it could be a problem with the tint of the glass or something, though the fact that it's always pink and/or green tells me it's a phosphor issue. I hope it's not going to be widespread on the xx50 models :/

Just stumbled upon the AVForums GT50 *video* review

I really don't notice the blob often as I think I got a very slight case or maybe it's the settings but i have only seen it 2 or 3 times in real world content. I just want to make sure when I upgrade the new set doesn't have this issue. At least I know to look for it before 30 days. I'm not sure if the buzzing would bother me but who knows. It sounds like the st50 is a winner for sure when it comes to 2d picture quality.

went to pick up my GT50 last night and it was defective. As we were testing it in store the component input would not work. Could have been the adapter that came with the tv, but being it was the only GT50 in the store we couldn't try another. Needless to say I wasn't walking out of there with that tv, so they are getting me another one today.

I want that tv- the EU model.

I just read the review and watched the video and it's The One for me.

So is the bezel a gloss finish or more of a matte finish? Hard to tell, some angles it does and some it doesn't. From memory it doesn't really look much different than the GT30 does it?

It's a glossy finish, but not, I guess, "piano gloss"--it's not distracting at all..

Yeah, I think I'm in for a 65" when they come out. I'd just get an ST, but the lady "doesn't like the look," and I don't think she'll be in for a VT.

It looks exactly like last years GT. it just seems like the bezel is almost unnoticeable slightly thinner. Im waiting for an ST to GT comparison. Got a VT30 on the loving room thinking either 55ST or GT50 for the bed room.

So how much better is a non calibrated gt 50 over a non calibrated st50? If you are only going to use a calibration disc I'm guessing the THX mode will be much more accurate then a disc calibrated st50. How much more accurate is the THX mode vs st50 best mode? How much better is the extra gradation in the gt50 vs the st50?

Would you get a better picture buying an st50 and having it professionally calibrated? 55st50 with pro cal cost the same as 55gt50 without pro cal. So what is the better picture pro calibrated st50 or disc calibrated gt50?

I believe D-Nice mentioned in another thread for many viewers the ST50 would represent better value if you applied the difference to a professional calibration. That guy knows his stuff...

You also need to consider your use. I believe the GT50 has a dual core processor? The ST50 does not, so if you're going to use the internet TV features that could be important to you. It would be to me...

they both seem to represent superb value from everything I've read.

My debate is 55 VT50 or 60GT50...

Leaning towards the VT because of the added controls and black filter.

Nice pics! Off topic, but how's the dialogue from your center speaker? Asking because it seems to be placed in a way that would make center speaker performance be suboptimal (ie: close to the ground, recessed within the cabinet, hardwood floor creating reflections, etc.)

I am torn, don't know what I want to do. I still have the Samsung un55b8500 which is still Samsung's best LCD TV ever made and its a 2009 model. It also has deeper blacks .006cd/m2 ANSI vs .011 cd/m2 but it has blooming which is a problem with most local dimmers and the motion is of course not as smooth as plasma. Higher input lag as well.

If the vt50 can beat .006cd/m2 ANSI then I will upgrade. I wanted to give my father my un46b8500, move the un55b8500 to bedroom and replace un55b8500 that was just moved with a top end plasma that can at least equal the deep .006 black level of the b8500. So far only the pioneer's can beat it and I think sadly the vt50 will be slightly grayer in blacks as well. Might have to wait for the xx60 line and hope the st60,gt60, or vt60 can beat .006 cd/m2 ANSI black level.

My dad needs a new TV so badly he has this 32 (might even be 30) inch ln32a300 series basically the lowest end LCD you can possibly get from samsung in 2008 not even 1080p. But he might have to wait another year if the vt50 cannot surpass the 55b8500. Hopefully the vt50's PQ will be a big enough upgrade to get me to finally change out my b8500 and get the 46b8500 over to my dad so he can actually get a good quality pic and then I'll have 2 55" sets instead of 1 46 and 1 55 and i'll have one of the best LCD's ever made in 1 room and 1 of the best plasmas ever made in 1 room.

Laststop, you do know that you're going to have to make an adjustment just going from LCD to plasma? Are you going to be okay with it being less bright/vivid? Did you have your B8500 professionally calibrated?

yeah his birthday is july 5th, always have a combined july 4th/bday celebration. I think I'm going to splurge and get a 55vt50 to replace my un55b8500.

And yes I know the brightness difference. I actually have the TV set above average dim because I have black metal privacy blinds that block 98% of light going into the room. So the plasma should be able to equal it. I owned a pioneer kuro before either the 7 or 8 gen before it broke down stairs so I am ok with plasma.

Give him the un46b8500 and make a youtube video of me destroying the ln32a300 or whatever it is
