Thank you!

Is it better to use HD size 2 then, or does that stretch the picture out?

Is it the norm for THX not to be available, I just found HD masters settings for viera connect. I will try those tonight.

It's your choice. And it does not stretch the picture out. Size 1 doesn't either, rather it just zooms the picture in a little

Try hdmasters settings they are great on my set. You are correct thx is not available in VC

I have and I'm pretty certain its the box. It only flashes green momentarily though and then goes about its business. Its rare and doesn't really bother me.

How reliable is PaulsTV? My preference would be to buy from my local big box retailer, but it's been out of stock there for quite a while. Amazon has increased their prices, so now I'm left with Paul's tv. In in the SF bay area, so it would have to be done online. Any other suggestions? I'm looking at the 65". I'm not in a rush, but I don't want to wait until there aren't any left anywhere.

Any recommendations for someone in OC CA to do calibration on a gt50?

Find out if D-Nice will be around there. He's the best IMO

Just bump up the Contrast setting if it still isn't bright enough. The "Day" settings are obviously brighter than the "Night" settings.

Read back about 5 days ago in this thread, there was some discussion about them. I have seen way too many complaints about Paul's here on AVS over the past few years and personally i would not buy from their online store because if you have any sort of problem they suddenly become very hard to deal with. And their return policy is lousy.

Just want to thank you for your settings. Bought my GT50 55" last November, and I had been playing around with the settings never quite getting it to where I liked it. In the beginning I tried the "warm 2" setting and skin tones were way too red to my liking, so I went with "normal". But now I've been watching it with "warm 2" since I've used your settings, and maybe it just aged a little, but now your settings with the "warm 2" looks really good to me.
Can't afford a calibration, but to me your settings are really, really perfect!!! Thanks again HD-Master!!!

That may have been it. What happened was I saw that one of my inputs didn't have the pixel rotater enabled so I was trying to find the size settings and went through setup and left halfway and it put all the inputs to standard and I think that enables C.A.T.S.. Man, I thought it was the power supply going.

BTW, I play COD on the PS3 under slick1ru2 if you want to play some times. Seems like the active members of my clan might be moving onto the Aliens Colonial Marines game.

I got my TV from them and it works fine but if I had to do it over again, I wouldnt order from them. I saved maybe a max of $112 iirc. I received my set in 8 days which wasnt bad. Its the delivery by the local agents that is shaky. Once Home Direct gets it to your local agent.....they sub-contract out anybody with a panel truck.....mostly rented on a daily basis to make deliveries from sun up til sundown. So your TV will be squished in with refrigerators, beds, couches, etc....
They dont do any setup, so dont expect it....just take the top box off, turn it on and get you to sign paperwork. The only thing I can say is, the deliverers did know the box contained a TV, anything else...they probably could care less about as they are just getting a flat drop fee. Best Buy was much better. I recommend to spend the extra $100-200 bucks to order from Best Buy or Amazon. I was one of the lucky ones...but you may not be.

Definitely a handshake issue. My friend has a 50GT50 as I do and the tv box is routed by hdmi to an OPPO universal player and then hdmi to the GT50. He has that same issue and I have seen the all green screen. When it came up the first time their was a copyright security message. It got so bad he had to change the hdmi output on the OPPO to hdmi2. I have the exact setup except I have Verizon and he has Comcast. No problem for me. It is not the GT50.

Perfectly normal !

Each input has its own settings. The settings do not transfer when you change inputs.

I've had a GT50 since roughly June and have enjoyed it. I just picked up a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones, the Sony MDR1RBT. They are very nice.

However, while the GT50 recognizes them and they do work, I have to go into the menus and "Connect" them every single time I want to use them. This is very annoying as it's pretty deep into the menus and requires perhaps 12 buttons to get there. Normally, such as my iPhone to my car, Bluetooth devices simply reconnect. Frustratingly, even this MDR1RBT reconnected magically one time. The TV displayed a message on screen that it had connected and it just worked. That was the first and only time that ever happened. It does always display a message when I turn the power to the headphones off saying they disconnected.

So I have some faint indication that it *can* reconnect, doing so is generally considered "standard behavior" for Bluetooth devices, the TV clearly knows about the headphones, they are modern headphones from a generally reputable manufacturer, I have the latest GT50 firmware..... I'm perplexed. On top of it all, I even saw it work one time (out of perhaps 30 that I have tried it now).

Any tips or tricks people have for getting Bluetooth to reconnect automatically to the set or has anyone else encountered this issue?

If the headphones are not powered up when the TV is turned on it will ignore them. It does not continuously look to see if you turned them on. If they are powered up and ready to communicate when you turn on the TV, it will auto connect.

The price diff to amazon is $450! Best buy doesn't have it in stock any more. I did find a local store that had the VT for about the same price amazon sells the GT for, and they are willing to work on the price with me.

How can I check how many hours I have on my new Panny? I've looked and must be missing it. I need to get to 100 hours before I can calibrate.

Sorry for the rant and if I offended anyone.

Don't confuse the continuous rehash of a handful of anecdotal reports with the existence of a wide spread problem. It would be very easy to get the idea that all the 2012 Panny PDP's are junk beyond comparison; that couldn't be further from the truth.

If you are talking about a real calibration, 100 hours is not long enough. Wait 300 - 500 hours if you are paying for it.

I can "upgrade" from the gt to the vt for $275. Is it worth it. It would be for the 65"

Yes I agree. I also like up.
