Different people have different theories on "break-in." At the very least, vary your content more frequently during the first 100-200 hours.

I will do that for sure.

The pixel orbiter...I say logic tells us it doesn't help. It shifts the image a few pixels at a time. So, if you have a static image, it barely moves. It may smudge the edges of any IR a bit.

I will forget about the pixel orbiter and just be cautious with my viewing habits. I used your settings for Night and Day viewing with the contrast dialed down a bit. I have the HDMI 1 output of my 4311 connected to the HDMI 1 input of the 60GT50 for the Night settings. For the Day settings I'm using the HDMI 2 output of the 4311 to the HDMI 3 input of the 60GT50. I programmed the 60GT50 inputs into my Harmony 688 so I can easily swap inputs depending on the time of day. So far with the limited viewing I'm very happy with the PQ of the 60GT50 smile.gif.

Thanks for you thoughts and posting your detailed settings smile.gif.

Do any of you get false alerts for a 3D Picture?
For two days in a row now I have gotten a notice saying 3D signal detected, press 3D to view.
On two movies so far, once each night.
Only problem is... this is not a 3D signal....
It is on HBO HD..One on a movie that came on from the year 2000! im using HDMI cords of course.

We have Suddenlink with TivO and 3D is offered on Demand. However there is no HBO 3D channel and HBO HD does not offer 3D that I am aware of.
I know I can turn off this feature but my question is... does this mean something is wrong with my Panasonic with its 3d detection?
How else could it affect the tv? And what is causing this?
Also my 3d detection is set to 1 which is signal detect only, NOT with image analysis.

What this guy says. Lovely, WIDE setting actually makes blacks even darker to my eye, go figure. Thank you indeed, HD-Master. smile.gif

What? 6700 posts on GT50's ! Amazing. Well, my eyes are too old and damaged to research through 6700 posts so if you folks will forgive me, I would like to bring up something that David Katzmeier of CNet brought up regarding the color problem/tendency with the GT's- that is, that they tend to have a greenish tint. Drat ! Since reading that, I have seen two consecutive storeroom demos at two different sites that had some (not sure what the technical term is, but it was there) GREEN tint. I actually saw it in the same Blu-ray demo (is that the problem?)- it was in "The Dark Knight." Those clown faces at the beginning in the bank job were slightly tinted greenish, whereas every other demo that I have seen that, the white-painted faces were W-H-I-T-E.

Have some of you noted a green tendency in the GT50's, and if so, were you easily able to defeat this tendency? David Katzmeier's stated solution was to NOT utilize the THX at all, and rather, utilize (start) with CUSTOM. I did not have the time to get into the menu (for the R-G-B HI and R-G-B Low), and perhaps that would have straightened the green tendency out ???eek.gif

Input, please. Thanks in advance.

I would advise you to use HD-Masters setting he cover everything from 2d-3d and he even calibrated 2d mode with wide color, i have noticed the green tint you are talking about and i would say his settings fixes the problem!! Now all we need from him is his updated 3d settings that use wide color and not normal.
The only green tint issue I've seen on my 65gt50 is when in thx cinema mode. I'm pretty sure katz stated that the green push was indeed in thx.....iirc.

That said, I have no green tint on custom mode with any of the many settings posted here (CNET, black ops, and all versions of hdmasters)

Nobody else gets 3d signal alerts while watching HBO HD?
I need to figure out what is going on here and if something is wrong with my T.V.
Like I said its not on the HBO 3D they have On Demand.

Yes, THX Cinema is a tad green out of the box. The solution is either to calibrate THX Cinema in the service menu or use Custom.

I don't think anything is wrong with the GT50. Sounds more like a glitch with Suddenlink. I have never had that happen however.

I have played the 360 in 3d and it looks fine.
Have you rented a movie in 3d On Demand (not with a Blu Ray)?
Would this cause that signal to appear or would it be in 3d without the alert?
I want to test the 3d detect but I don't know if that would be a proper test.....
The 360 does not give the same alert the channel did.
The channel gave an alert in the bottom right hand screen.

I've seen a false 3D notification a few times in the 9 months I've had the tv - couldn't say what source I was watching. I just ignored it and it went away in a few seconds and didn't think of it again.

That's what mine did. But two nights in a row on two movies lol.
I just want to make sure the tv does detect a 3d channel source when it SHOULD, and that false ones do not mean the actual detection is defective and
will mean it wont detect real sources properly.

Another question...
on this TV, are you supposed to be able to switch from 2d-3d or 2d on the 3D Format Select when you hit the 3D button on the remote with all channels even if they are not 3D channels?

Mine is doing this and makes it look 3D.

Yup that's the 2d to 3d conversion feature. Not bad but this TV is so good in 2d I opt for it every time...unless I have a good 3d bluray!

Yes I have had it happen twice in 3 months. No rhyme or reason. Have you tried going into the 3D settings menu and change the way it detects? That might make a difference worth a shot
post #6706 of 9713
Is it not possible to have converted 2D -> 3D in Viera connect stuff? (Netflix/Hulu) Are you only able to use it with live TV or 2D bluray and DVDs?

For these color settings do you have to use the pro settings? Mine is shaded grey so I can't access it. Also I believe I read this voids the warranty correct?

you have to be in custom picture mode in order to modify pro settings and it does not void your warranty...

+1. Also remember that all of the HDMI inputs have their own separate settings. Some here have used that feature to have HDMI1 for day settings & HDMI 2 for nite settings, etc. Just FYI.

Can anyone post a link to HD Master's picture settings?
I've searched but can't find them.

Also.. do I need to wait until the 120 hr break in to do these settings or can I do them now?
I am close to 100hrs... give or take a few.

Thanks!

There's a link in his signature, but just in case you can't see them. Settings

You can go ahead and set them, it shouldn't make a difference.

I just did his settings but I'm having trouble.
I cant adjust the 3:2 pulldown or 24p direct in... they are greyed out.
This is using a HDMI cord and watching a regular DVD.

Suggestions?

You can only adjust the 3:2 pulldown setting when using an interlaced source, such as a 1080i cable channel. You can only adjust the 24p Direct in setting when using a 24p source, such as Blu-ray.

I think my set has a little bit of red and green push. what is the best appoarch (other than paying ~$400 for a prof calibration) to correct this in the service menu? don't think I can correct this in the regular pro settings. I went into the service menu last night, looks like my R-DRV is at FF (max) already, a few click down?

Custom settings do the exact same thing as the service menu settings no difference have you tried HD Masters custom settings most folks really like them. There is absolutely no reason to go in the service menu unless you are tweaking one of the thx modes and then only with a meter software and some knowledge.
How do you access the service menu anyways? I see absolutely nothing about a service menu anywhere in the settings menus.

There's no direct access to it, it requires a series of inputs on your remote to bring up the menu.

If THX Cinema (and THX Brightroom?) can be calibrated through the service menu, then why not use one of those as an alternate "Day" setting to complement "Night" setting in Custom instead of using an HDMI splitter for Day/Night? Is that just a preference or am I missing something? Maybe it wasn't even you that mentioned using a splitter but I thought it was.
