I have to go with Avatar, if you don't already have it.

You have to have a certain kind of voice and speech to narrate well. Apparently he has it. I have heard him narrate other things also.

Depends on who you ask and what your household electric is like. In most cases it is not worth the money imo.
Exactly. If your home's power supply is stable, the power supply on the TV will do all that's needed. Surge protection is all you need unless you are running a projection system with an expensive lamp. In that case an uninterrupted power supply would be a good idea so that you would be able to do a normal shut down to protect the lamp.

I certainly understand that, there are way better voices out there.

I gather its just like anime/cgi movies when they decide to put a famous actor/actress as a voice actor. It usually just doesn't work well at all, but at least the studio got their big name.

I go back and forth on it. I just don't know enough about electricity to be educated enough to know if they really do anything.

Its not going to give you better pq or sq. If youre not having any problems you probably would see no benefit. Use some good quality surge protectors.

I understand that, I was thinking along the lines if it does create "better" power, than the life of the equipment may prove better.

I've had mine for 3 years and couldn't be happier not only it looks good and cleans up wiring clutter by plugging all your components to it, it actually really cleans up any hissing or static noise coming from a receiver. The video & sound is pure and clean coming from my speakers and it protects your system from any electric surges/storms. I've read from some people that they had power outages/ storms that killed their tv's. So I'm glad I'm protected.

Thank you Dear. Nope this was the first time I've ever paired glasses. I lead an IT department and I'm used to stuff not working as advertised. This was a surprise that they just worked.
But I very much appreciate you jumping and helping! smile.gif

The life of your equipment will be effected by surges that get through to them. "Cleaning" normal power will have no effect either way. If your power is unstable, with frequent brown outs, then a UPS can protect you from damage.

I don't know what "better power" might be. wink.gif

^^^^ Same thing a good CPU power supply does.

Define issues. It doesn't look great though, if that's what you mean.

Stupid Question (but I need to ask it anyway):

If I save the settings (like NightShade's nighttime viewing under custom) does it save just the Custom settings or is it going to override other settings on the set? Is there anyway to save both day and night settings?

Thanks!

Just custom. You will need an HDMI switch to get separate settings for the same mode.

So if I understand correctly - the settings each only are changed for the input selected? So I can have different Custom settings for each HDMI input?

Yeah. That's what I mean. Txt is often blurry. Then gets sharp. Then blurry again.

Yes, that you can do.

I can kind of see that. Small text in particular looks bad, such as typing this.

Try using HDMI: Auto, looks better to me.

It was already on auto. I hate it lol. I've tried everything.

Ahhh yeah, not sure it's going to get much better than that honestly, but I agree.

Well that just sucks. Surely they had to thought someone would use this thing as a monitor frown.gif

I already had cardiac arrest last night with my daughter watching Avatar collector's edition. Just absolutely mind-blowing. The space ship scene over pandora was absolutely incredible - and the forest at night had us both ooh-ing and aah-ing... it was like being at the theater. Yeah, I did check my kicker a couple times - there was some serious fluttering in the chest.

So.... Are you guys saying DO NOT RUN SLIDES and that I can use the TV in THX Cinema right away?

I read so much information about IR damage and conditioning the phospors for the first 100 hours - I really don't want to damage the set. I did get the geek squad warranty with it - but even still, the hassle wouldn't be worth it.

One other question - where is the list of movies that are the correct aspect to use the full screen for break in? At least that much is recommended right?

I'm not saying do not run the slides, go nuts with them if you want. I used THX cinema for a while and regular use with no issues. No slides for me. In the grand scheme of things its only a TV. Right now I use HDmasters night settings. Not the "wide", didn't like those as much as his earlier settings.

Hmmmm, they must have; they put a VGA connector on it. I'll agree they probably didn't expect most people to use it with Microsoft Word but if it is having problems with fine text / details then it probably isn't going to work well for PC gaming or HTPC either.

Can you post his normal settings? I'd like to try them but he removed them not long ago and didn't put them back.

PC gaming it isn't bad. The txt is just bad on the web and forums. Slight blur. It sucks.
