Does anyone want to share their PS3 screen settings connected to a GT50???? I would like to compare. Thanks!

One tip for ps3: Do not set to Auto (Color Space was way off - simply by testing with the new 2nd edition S&M even without calibration equipment. It was easy to tell). Set it to 4:2:2.

I run game mode and bump the brightness up.

It sounds like we had extremely similar experiences with the attempted fix, outcome, and acceptance of the buzzing as it is right now. Good luck going forward!

Does anyone now if you can uninstall an app from the TV? I know you can uncheck the box and it won't show up on the picture menu, but I'm wondering if an app can actually be uninstalled.

Starting about 3 days ago Netflix stopped working. It starts up and displays the logo on the red background and just freezes and eventually says it can't connect to Netflix, and to retry or exit. Netflix works fine on the xbox, bluray, or roku so I wanted to try uninstalling it and redownloading it - that sometimes fixes issues with android apps, and I imagine this is a similar system. Other apps work fine, including Youtube and Amazon video, so the network is still operational.

To fix this issue on my TV a while back I followed these instructions. Really it works even though it looks like a video game cheat code.

Launch the Netflix app.
Using the arrows on your remote, enter the following sequence:
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up
Select Deactivate and exit the screen.
Restart the Netflix app and sign in to your account.

Doh, didn't even think to check the Netflix site, figured it was a TV support issue. Will give it a try, thanks!!!

My netflix app was a dud right out of the box. Would freeze and say get help. I tried the up up down down trick to deactivate then re-launch app but that didn't work. Finally one bright netflix support person was able to tell me to kill the power to the tv as the app was stuck. I launched the app, let the bars that normally move come up and get stuck, then ran next room where my breaker panel is and killed the circuit. Pulling tv plug will also work lol. You need to do this while the app is launched and stuck - before the can't connect note comes up.

I had the same problem several months ago. The Panasonic tech told me to go into the TV menu to network , then go to IP Address, then DNS Manual. Reset the DNS manual to 8.8.8.8. It solved the problem permanently.

I thought I could live with the buzzing issue but I've changed my mind in that regard. I was watching ESPN this morning and there was an interview with a with a white background and I could hear the buzzing over the audio (moderate volume level). So I'm going to call the service company that came out to make another service call. My thoughts are (thanks to Randy's earlier post) to set the plasma on the stand, take the rear cover off, power it up and check to see exactly where the buzz is coming from. The Tech did this on the first visit but the rear cover was reinstalled (after the screw change out) so it was hard to tell what part was causing the buzzing.

That is unfortunate I really don't understand the buzzing variability, my VT50 is dead silent

The sad part is I could near guarantee I could find and fix a buzz issue if warranty and or a bad part was not a concern. I've seen / assisted numerous buzz fixes on older CRT TVs via strategically placed applications of either silicone or epoxy on noisy coils/boards. There's very little to the guts of a plasma. If a tech can't diagnose the cause/source of a buzzing part he/she isn't looking... Why a tech would remotely re-instal the back of the display without checking for the buzz is also beyond me...
I knock on wood every time I read one of the buzz posts. My 60GT50 buzzed loudly a few times the first week I owned it.. Then never again in the last ~10 months. If/when it returns and this will most likely be outside of the warranty, I have 99% confidence I can diagnose and remedy the issue.

Cheers

If you have a DVR try to find a scene where is buzzes as bad as possible for the tech.

I agree 100% that the Tech should have checked for buzzing after replacing the screws and before putting the rear panel back on. I wish I had thought about it then but I'll make sure it is done on the next service call.

Did the buzzing go away on its own?

I have a Steven Wilson Bluray that has a totally white screen at the beginning of the disc. So I'll play that then pause it as the Tech on the first visit was using the scrolling feature. That workied but it isn't a constant white screen as it goes from black to white on a constant loop. Thanks for the suggestion smile.gif.
