Should I get ST30 or VT30?

Yes guys another what should I buy thread, sorry! I've gotten the a-ok from the old lady to purchase a new tv for our basement which currently has a 50" Panasonic Kuro 5080hd, I'd like to upgrade to a 65" tv.

That being said I am looking for a 65" tv, around 2700 dollars, I'll be purchasing this at best buy with their 0% financing.

Primary uses are for blu-rays, tv, and gaming. I've been looking at the VT30 for quite some time but am now wondering if I should just save some cash and go with the ST30, thoughts?

Are there any other tv's in that price range I should consider? What about GASP LED/LCD tv's any recommendations on what I should look at there? (just throwing it out there, I've always owned plasmas..)

your input is greatly appreciated as I'm looking to purchase in the next 2 weeks!

You might have problems finding the VT series at your price level!

Those are last year's tv's. You should go for the p65st50. The p65vt50 will be out of your price range.

Well best buy has the VT30 for sale at 2799, which I can swing lol...

Any ideas on what the p65vt50 will be like compared to the vt30?

I know you said you want to buy in the next few weeks, but can you hold off a little while longer until the new 65ST50 is released? The ST50 is said to be a big improvement over the ST30 and is somewhat equal to the VT30. The 65" ST50 will initially be priced at $2,999 but usually drops soon after release and should drop to or below your budget limit. If it were me, i'd wait for the 65ST50 if at all possible.

There are no LCDs or LED LCD TVs at any price that will approach the PQ of the ST30/VT30/ST50 with the sole exception of maybe the Sharp Elite - but the 60 incher is at least $2,000+ over your budget limit.

And I figured lcd's and led's wouldn't match but it was worth a shot lol

ahh I think I'm gonna get the VT30...

Not sure when the ST50 will be in stores, and it's probably gonna be two months at least before the prices drop to 2799.. Not sure I want to wait that long!

If you have a perfectly working plasma now I'd say wait.

Initially i wanted to get Sharp 735U (full array, $3299) and now they have a newer model LC70LE847U (edge lit $3,299.99). I see VT30 going for $2700 and now I am really stuck.

For best picture quality, CNET ranked ST50 no 2 - http://reviews.cnet.com/best-hdtvs/?tag=leftnav

I tried a 65GT30 and it had green blobs and buzzing sound so returned it and am waiting for the 50 series. I had an option to try another GT30 but decided it wasn't worth it. September build date. I would say to hold off for new models.

freakina Best Buy has no idea when they're getting the 60 or 65 ST50, the wait is killing me!

If you can afford the price difference between the 2, Get the VT30
