Thanks again Erich!
PS. Your "add to wishlist" function gives an error.
No surprise to find a small website error. I think that is some type of extra 'extension' that came with the cheesy template I bought last year. It was suppose to help make things easier, instead it was a big headache. Nearly all of the site had to be remade/rewritten and maybe that extension wasn't turned back on. I'll find out. It doesn't actually affect the site use though. As for Baltic birch.
There's a possibility some of the smaller ones could be made from Baltic at a decent price if they had a double thick mdf baffle versus 100% Baltic. The problem is when a larger box requires that second sheet of birch. As you can imagine, that's when costs start to jump up pretty good. My understanding is that it's more expensive to cut because they need to keep extremely sharp bits so there's no chipping on any plywood layers. But they did a heck of a nice job on the Overnight Sensations.
I do believe all of that is why you don't see any company making real Baltic subwoofer cabinets to sell. But I will still check pricing. Last year I was told "around" $125 for the 4 cu ft model. But the one drawn up didn't have the extensive bracing every 8" like these mdf models.
It was like this:
I think that actually came in a little under 4 cu ft. So going into 2 sheets would likely put the price over $150. I'm not sure what type of demand there is for something like that. And I'd have to check the minimum order too.....but I will check.
As for very near future mdf boxes: I've got a 1 cu ft box coming for the 10" Dayton RS. A .75 cu ft for an upcoming 'secret' project. I'm either going to shrink the 22" cube down to 21.5" with a 2" baffle or make the entire thing from 1" thick mdf. But I'm a little worried about weight on that type box.
Dual opposed are done, I just don't have anything but prototypes for the 10" and 12".
Next will be ported once I figure which sizes and which drivers.
