I am hoping for an extra of the opening without those darn credits blocking the view.

The caps look promising, some soft others quite nice. Maybe it's the jpegs but in the blue sky I think I see some compression issues with the grain.

The credits are still blocking the view dammit.

I will be shocked if Paramount releases more full grain like this.

Bring on the Orgasmotron! She's smoking hot! All the caps looks great. Shame that there wasn't more extras than a trailer. I would love to hear Jane on a commentary track.

Stellar cover art.

Surprised this popular cult movie has no extras. Rocky Horror is loaded. But then this is Paramount and they were just as stingy in the DVD days.

Goddamn, those caps look stunning. Paramount are taking the piss, lavishing such decent PQ on a piece of pop-culture trash (IMO biggrin.gif) like this while so many other more deserving movies languish in DNR hell. If this is Paramount on the road to recovery, then great, but that sure don't help my Star Trek movie BDs...

I'm afraid you're gonna have to go to sleep and ask Woody 'bout a go....I suspect that you're gonna need a sheet-load of quarters... wink.gif

Of course I just got the dvd 4 months ago for a space trash movie night. I double billed with Star Crash, and used the last 10 minutes of Flesh Gordon as the 'cartoon'. Good times! As far as the blu ray goes, I'll get around to it eventually.

I would love to hear Jane on a commentary track.

In the past she has said she did most of her scenes drunk.

I think she's only done a commentary for "They Shoot Horses, Don't They." But if she was drunk (and high) during "Barbarella", how much would she remember?

Thats sad.

I watched Barbarella last night. I really like the music in the film and the True, mono audio sounded very good. It certainly looked light years better than the LD I have. They certainly made some very decent sets for this space porn flick. It's a shame Terry Southern wrote the thing. The dialog needed to be sillier. Where was Woody Allen when he was needed? wink.gif

For all you boob-bots, you can see 'em A-OK, roger and out!

This is just a terrific looking disc. You couldn't hope for a better job.

But, as most of us agree, it's merit as a movie is questionable. I look at it as a glorious period piece. It has that definite self-righteous hippie, swingin' 60's, psychedelic vibe. They couldn't (or wouldn't) have made this movie two years earlier and they probably couldn't have made it two years later. It's pure 1968 European groovy.

I'm glad to have it in my collection.

You speak for all of us do you? I think Micheal Bay, J. J. Abrams, torture porn & stereovision flicks are of even more questionable merit, but I do not claim to speak for all of us.

What? You didn't show the Carpenter-O'Bannon film DARK STAR?

Hmm, those caps appear to have some sort of colour shift toward red, maybe due to the lower resolution and higher compression rate?

That site also has lossless png images, the jpeg version match the Cinemasquid caps color wise for the BD. I would say it's more like the DVD has a strong blue shift even though the clouds in one DVD shot is quite orange. Jane looks sickly in the DVD colors and I have a hard time believing they would light her in such a unflattering manner. The DVD looks quite sloppy even by SD standards.

I agree. The blu-ray screenshots are really good! smile.gif
