Old NuTone 3-wire intercom radio

Is there any affordable way (rental house) to use this system with digital content? I was thinking of running a the second zone from my receiver to this and piping it through the house using the existing wire. It's a just a temporary solution. Is this possible?

Does the unit have an audio input? I'd think either directly connecting a Sonos (if there's an input), or a Sonos plus a personal FM transmitter (if no input).

No Audio input (at least on the outside) It's pretty old. I didn't think of a transmitter, that might be the way to go. Great idea.

That's pretty old. Does it still work well enough?

You may just want to consider 2-3 zones of Sonos.

It works great actually. I just want to get rid of the radio and or update it using the existing wiring while not spending a ton of money.

Yeah, just an FM transmitter, one Sonos box, set up a Pandora 80's mix channel and it'll be just like new!

Maybe you can hang an old, beat up, cardboard box over the master controller, so it will look nicer.

Why not replace the master unit with a new Nutone model? The NM100 will work with the 3 wire and has 2 inputs to add to the tuner.

I'm pretty sure if I push it hard enough it will just fall in the wall. At that point I can probably tie cans to each end of the wires and just have the intercom! Man I hate renting.

If it wasn't a rental I would put some money into it but I wouldn't throw anyone more money at this place. If I could take the nm100 with me and know that I would use it, it would be a great suggestion so thanks.

In full disclosure, my old, unused, dead M&S intercom looks similar, and I own my house.

Just waiting for the kitchen remodel to start.
