First you say you don't like the PC input type but then you say it looks so clear. I have it set on PC but i don't use AMP. What do you mean dynamic, where is this setting?

Uhh no I clearly said i set my PC to TV meaning my computer is set to the input named TV. But once you choose TV as input type then under picture mode you will have Dynamic listed.

This is even more confusing than the first. Are you saying that your TV looks good until you change it to the PC input and Dynamic is the picture mode?

Interesting. It seems i am not the only one who found your statement confusing.

I'm terribly sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask the following question :

I recently bought the Samsung UE46ES6100 and I've been experiencing a rather annoying problem when watching videos on my PS3, every 5 to 10 minutes the screen would flicker for a portion of a second and then I'd lose all sound for the next 2-3 seconds after that. It would also happen when the PS3 was idle.

Assuming it has nothing to do with the PS3, what could be the problem?

Try setting your cable box to 1080i instead of any type of 'auto' mode.

When i set refresh rate (screen resolution/advanced settings/monitor/monitor settings/Screen refresh rate:) on TV at 59Hz or 60Hz i have limited options under Menu (a lot of settings are greyed out). Look at the SS. For example i can't set Movie mode or i can't access Advanced settings and many other settings. Could this be fixed? I would like to calibrate also 59Hz or 60Hz according to this specifications (http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/samsung-lcd-tv/samsung-es6100-picturesettings.html).

I have named my HDMI connection PC. Could this be a problem?

I bought a UN46ES6150 at Costco yesterday, and after a day of trying to get it to look good, I'm taking it back today. I was going to replace my several year old Toshiba 42XV540U, but in spite of all the tweaking I have done, and the various user settings I have tried from this forum, I can't get it to look anywhere near as good as my old Toshiba.

Back it goes to Costco today.

Yes that is what i was saying earlier naming the input PC you lose all of the settings when I named the input TV even though its actually for my computer I could set the picture mode to dynamic which looks wayyy better.

ufc205: It seems that i didn't understand what you meant, but now i do. I agree with you 100%. Many users said here that it's not important how you name your HDMI connection but it would seem that it is very important.

Until today i named my HDMI connection - PC and because of that i was only able to do this:
Quote:
I have my TV set at 24p or 24Hz and i have calibrated settings for profiles: 23p,24p,25p,29p,30p,50p but for some reason TV doesn't allow me to set calibrated setting for 59p and 60p.

So my advice to everyone would be that you name your HDMI connection/input - TV!!! because only this way you can use calibrated settings (http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/samsung-lcd-tv/samsung-es6100-picturesettings.html) for all Hz/p profiles that means (23p,24p,25p,29p,30p,50p,59p,60p).

ufc205: What do you mean by this dynamic, where can i find this setting?:
Quote:
I could set the picture mode to dynamic which looks wayyy better.

Do you mean that you have done this by going into Menu/Advanced Settings/Dynamic contrast and you have set it: ON? Or is this dynamic option somewhere else? Please explain it to me.

Anyone know how to set brightness, backlight when TV is in web browser mode?
I recently purchased the 60 inch version of this set and like it a lot. The only thing that a noticed tonight when I was watching The Walking Dead. When there are dark scenes, especially with motion, the darkest areas are not uniform. It almost looks pixelated. I don't think it is clouding since I don't see that when there is a solid color on the screen. My smaller Samsung TV that I have doesn't seem to have the issue. I have calibrated it to the settings that have been suggested and looks good otherwise. Does anyone know what this could be?

Could you do a photo of this uniform so others can see it?

I have been testing some settings but I'm not sure which are the better so i would like to hear some of your opinions.

1) In my opinion/case the Dynamic Range is better at Full (0-255). But i have read that this option should be disabled. Now i have it like this:

2) I'm currently using Full RGB pixel format. What are you using (those who have ATI/AMD graphic cards)?

3) Should i disable ITC processing or lave it enable?

Hey guys,

So, after owning the un46eh6000 version CS01 for several weeks I went into best buy to try and exchange it for the same model but with a ts01 or 02 panel. Not because i was unhappy with the PQ, but just because many have been raving about the TS panels on the unxxeh6000 thread. However, when I got to BB they didn't have any eh6000s with a TS (Samsung) panel. So, they agreed to give me a 6100 with a TS01 panel for the same price as the 6000. When I brought the 6100 version TS01 home, unboxed it, and calibrated it using numerous settings suggested on this thread, it did not compare AT ALL to the 6000. The clarity of the full array 6000 blew the edge lit 6100 out of the water. The 6100's picture was so cloudy that I returned the tv two hours after purchasing it and re-bought the 6000 I had returned earlier in the day. Long story short, those who are unhappy with the 6100 should return it and buy the 6000. You will not be dissappointed. Check out the lack of negativity on the 6000's thread compared to the negativity here on this thread. Edge lit LEDs without local dimming suffer from extreme clouding. I see the same cloudiness on my dads Sony that's a 2012 edge lit LED (650 I think).

I bought this TV and I'm pretty disappointed. In any dark setting there are really un-uniform greyish blobs all over the screen. It looks almost as if it's coming in from the corners perhaps. Is this clouding I see discussed earlier in this thread with it being mentioned as being expected? It's terrible - I can easily see this in any movie with a night setting. Bright scenes it isn't a problem.

I had Samsung out once and they replaced the screen, but I think the new screen is even worse. I'm outside my 30 day window, so I suppose my only choice at this point is to sell the thing? If this is expected with side lit TV, I probably just need to move on to different technology because it is too annoying for my personal preference.

The Netflix app on my UN60ES6100 no longer works. When I start it up it gets to the Netflix logo screen with the animated status bar then locks up the TV. The only way for me to regain control is to uplug it. Is anyone else having issues with Netflix?

I've tried other apps, like the web browser, and they're still working fine.

Thanks.

Time to upgrade my display. 6 years ago I bought the venerable Samsung HLS-5087 rear projection 1080p set and it still works like a champ today (after a bulb replacement). I am seriously considering the 60" version of this model due to thinness and smart capability and would also love a great picture upgrade.

My question is will I get the picture upgrade? Uses include HD Directv programming along with Netflix and Amazon streaming with 360 and PS3 gaming.

Thanks!

Is the off angle viewing on this set as bad as the D6000 of last year?
So I just picked up the UN46ES6100 at Best Buy this past Friday replacing my older LG 42LH50. I have been reading through this thread and found that there are those who love this panel and those who don't.

My initial thoughts is the picture quality is very good. The backlight and contrast need to be dropped way down.

Frys has a great price on this panel and I was able to price match with Best Buy.
After I read through this thread, what was once a 1100 panel is now going for 799.00

Is this something I should be worried about i.e. pushing the panels to get rid of them becasue of the lighting issues??

No thats the black friday drop. They did this with the 6000 series last year as well. They will go back up in a few weeks. Get a price match and get some cash back!!!! The 55" is now 1099 just like last yr!!!
For the record, the 46ES6100 I picked up on Friday does not have any of the flashlighting that others have reported.

I had also updated the firmware to 1024 first thing.

As for the off angle viewing, there is def some deteriation in the picture quality but is not an issue in my room as the seating is all direct in front.

Well, I pulled the trigger and picked up a 60" last Sunday once it dropped $400. Price was just way too good to pass up. After calibrating the set using some recommended settings the picture is simply amazing. That is the single reason why I haven't returned it yet.

As mentioned above, the viewing angle is the size of a love seat from 12' away. Once you move beyond it, memories of my dad's old tv/furniture piece come to mind. Flashlight effect is really present as well which disappoints me terribly. I haven't tried the "massaging my panel" trick yet but I'm understandably skeptical. It was loaded with 1022 and just updated to 1024. I didn't see any picture improvement as the details include.

After the great success of my HLS-5087, I can't help feeling that Samsung has betrayed my loyalty with this set.
So last night watching The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel off of Amazon On Demand, the flashlighting was horriable. I had watched Brave via Blu-Ray earlier in the week as well as shows and movies off of DirecTv that has plenty of dark scenes with no discernable flashlighting at all.

Seems odd that based on the content source the flashlighting is either present or not.
Blu-rays are almost always letterbox so it is easy to see. This morning I rechecked Brave. No. Braveheart. No. Gladiator. No but if I stream from an online provider, very prevalent. I am stil torn as what to do as 80% what I watch the picture is amazing but its that 20% that is bugging me.

Foo Fighters Live at Wembley on DirecTv Palladia, blacks are deep and inky, pic is amazing. No Flashlighting at all. WTF???

If I take it back and get another brand, I may never be satisfied unless I go to Plasma and even then, a different set of concerns.

Sheesssh...

I almost want to stick with my 2009 LCD CCFL LG...rolleyes.gif

Just wondering if anybody has recommendations on Harmony One remote delay settings for a UN40ES6100?

I've been trying power on settings between 5 and 8 seconds but the tv doesn't always wind up on the correct input. If I try the same activity again (once its powered on) there's no problem.

Thanks.

Help Please!

I just purchased the Samsung UN60ES6100 and I am having a problem with it at power up. I have a Directv HR24-500 connected with HDMI to my Sony STR-DG920 (SAT In HDMI). The Samsung TV is Connected from HDMI 1 to the Sony receivers HDMI out. When I turn on all three with my Harmony Touch the TV does not display the picture. I need to switch the receiver from SAT to another input such as BD or DVD and then back to SAT for the picture to come up on the screen. The TV is set to HDMI 1.

I have tried with Anynet+ both on and off and it does not resolve the issue.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Tom
