We moved to another house and I was able to get DirecTV back (woohoo!) with the new Genie DVR. However, Tuesday night and last night we were watching different shows from different channels and during the show the screen would go black for a second or two at a time. I thought it might be a signal issue from my dish or from the networks, but that's not it because the recordings are fine in another room and when I rewind them on the Genie. I checked my HDMI connection and tried 3 cables across 2 different inputs on the TV.

Basically, it seems like I'm losing the HDMI signal from the Genie (DTV issue) or for some reason the TV doesn't like what it's getting from the Genie. I can check it with another TV, but I was wanting to see if anyone else had this problem and there was a 'duh' fix that I could try.

I have an HR34, but connected to a UN40ES6100 with no problems.
Try going into the setup menu on the HR34, set to native "off" and just have 1080i/p checked. This will eliminate most of the HDMI handshake and might solve the problem.

I searched another forum and found the 'native off' option, but the thread was from 2008 and was related to an older DTV receiver. I was going to look for the option this evening, but I was't sure if that was even still on the HR34. I will definitely give it a shot tonight, though. Thanks for the post!

The other thing I was concerned with was heat. I have the HR 34 in a relatively small space in an Ikea TV stand. And it felt a little warm when I was switching cables. The vents on the receiver are on the side though, and there's like 3 or 4 inches on both sides of it. It seems like plenty of room to me, but who knows.

To eliminate that possibility, my next thing to try would be putting the HR34 in my basement living room where it's cooler and I have a much bigger space then put the Genie extender in my Ikea TV stand.

So what does the latest firmware do? Also will I lose all of my picture settings if I update?
Well, I noticed when you go into smart hub, whatever picture settings you have set is what you get in smart hub. Noticed there are no more glitches with my Apple TV. That's about all I noticed.

I have a 40ES6150 here, Does anyone have issues with netflix slowing down between episodes? This is the screen im talking about where it tends to get stuck. I have to go to another season and back to refresh the episode list. It gets kind of annoying.

also, I was using a friends Panasonic 60inch G series, and man the netflix on that is awesome, autoplays the next episode and interface just looks better.

@ Hectorcaliente ..thanks for the heads up and infos on the new update!

(Please refer to my previous post #701 for more info)

Well, I have updated my Samsung 55" Smart TV UN55ES6100FXZA to firmware 001031, and I am very pleased with the results. The update has drastic improvements on the smoothness of the display while watching cable broadcasts. Below is my "new" changes to my settings, I still have the "wi-fi" and "smarthub" disabled. But I noticed it is still bloody hell trying to watch BBC's "Nightmare Kitchen", it is still very jittery, I think it is the show itself because "Top Gear" shows just fine.

Film Mode: Off
Auto Motion Plus: Off (for those whom enjoys this mode, I noticed the "Standard" setting works very well)

Thank You Samsung!

EDIT: (Aug. 16, 2013) Please read my new post #763 regarding new firmware 001043.

Quick question gentleman,

I'm think of purchasing one of those new fancy 802.11 ac routers on the market.

If I get the adapter for 802.11 ac and attach it to the Samsung along with the router then theoretically I should be able to get the benefits of the 802.11 ac correct?

I don't wanna say that you won't, but seeing how the TV wired LAN is only 100Mbps and how 1080p is limited to 30fps I believe that you won't see any improvement at all over the internal n adapter, which is good enough even for 25Mbps reencodes. Skip the adapter and get an even better ac router smile.gif

To piggy back off Edo, recommend the Apple AirPort Extreme. I have the 4th Gen and have no problems at all. Don't know why you would need 600+ mps from PC to TV, or any other device at that. Unless I was file sharing, I would see a bottleneck with my other hardware anyhow. I'll stick with N speeds, especially that some of my other devices such as PS3 and IPhone are still in G speeds.

Just curios as to why you say a 'TV wired LAN is only 100Mbps'?
That's the link speed my router reports, same cable with PS3 reports gigabit.

Edit:
Also, the series that ASUS router is part of are awesome gaming routers. They also have many other awesome advanced features, like dual USB3 ports for external storage and an embedded DLNA server, and more awesome stuff... but mainly I regard them as great gaming hardware.

Edo,

This what I mean in my original post, getting the adapter along with the Asus 802.11ac router. It sounds like it would be worth it if I got both items?
Hey Gullit,

Don't get the AC adapter, even the TV's included wireless N adapter is more than enough. You can use your 5ghz N devices with an AC router so no problem there.

I really got tired of the spider leg look....couldn't stomach it any longer. The TV itself is great! But I really liked the thin edge-lit models of the UN B C D models. Liked the really unique see thru edged frames. I finaly changed the tv stand for the previous glass "floating" base one. It now Looks better! smile.gif

Anyone using the remote to control a cable box?

I have a UN60ES6100 with a receiver and cable box. On the remote- when set to TV for device it is able to adjust the volume by sending a signal from the TV through the HDMI to the receiver. My problem is that when I am controlling the cable box the volume function does not work since it is trying to adjust through the cable box.

My old unversal had a "punch-through" feature that allowed you to send certain commands to a device regardless of the mode. Is there a way to do this with the Samsung universal?
Anynet+ seems to work sometimes, I have no idea what is causing this.

hey everyone, there is a new Firmware out for this model. I caution you from downloading and installing. The screen performance was degraded enough for me to notice after I installed it.
I wrote an email to samsung advising them of the "lack of picture quality" improvement.
I noticed v34 on samsung downloads page but the TV itself can't find anything after v33. Maybe they pulled it because of the issues you mention.
I just installed the new firmware and noticed a 'softening' of the picture. Not happy. Can I go back?
Downloaded v1034 from the Samsung site, and installed it Yesterday. Definite improvement over the v1033.
So do not download the latest firmware is what I am hearing?
@ Djrmc - Don't download V0034. Atleast on my tv, the last version was a lot better. V0034 is going to disappoint a lot of people.
I think 0031 was the best firmware version in regards to picture quality and performance.

Okay thank thank you for heads up.
I installed v34 and haven't noticed anything wrong. What's exactly so wrong with it Hector?
Looks fine to me too.

Hey haven't been here in a while and I have a 40 inch smart tv Samsung ES6100F series and I was wondering how to update my firmware
post #750 of 854
Edo - 0034 has issues with 1080i source. The panning is where you will notice the problem. You can put the settings on smooth, but you will see artifacts. On 0031v I had my settings on custom 7 blur and 6 judder. All sources had superior screen performance (no blur, very little judder). This was with version 0031. Now 0033 was horrible and although 0034 was better, 0031 seemed to have given the best screen performance.
