Phono Preamp

Thread Starter
I just picked up a Denon AVR-1912 receiver, which of course doesn't have phono input. Can anyone recommend a good phono pre-amp to use with my 20 something old Technics SL-1200? I listen to music from this about 10% of the time, so I don't want to spend a lot of money - just something that will get the job done without sacrificing too much.

Thanks!

For about $50, you can pick up a decent one at www.phonoreamps.com. If you want to spend more, consider the Parasound Zphono at $150 or so.

I have a 750 from phonopreamps and find it's pretty good for the money spent. I'm eager to consolidate all my sources into one Preamp though (Parasound 2100)

I purchased the TCC TC-750 (like the one pictured on www.phonopreamps.com) to pair with my 80's new to me Sony turntable, going into a Yamaha AVR with no phono section.

I actually scored mine off EBay, so it was even a bit cheaper. I don't listen to vinyl that often, and my TT is not high-end, so I wanted something reasonable.

I highly recommend the Musical Fidelity V-LPS. It is around $140, and sounds as good as some costing much much more.

The Cambridge 551P is a bit cheaper, from Needle Doctor. They also have some for under $100.

Get Cambridge Audio 640P, or 540P if you do not plan using MC carts.

I have been very happy with my Musical Fidelity V-LPS mkII that I use with my Rega RP-1 and Aragon 18k mkII preamp.

I have a NAD PP1 that sounds very good through Denon 3805. Nice warm sound! You can find them fairly cheap too.

I heard a Yaqin tube phono stage that sounded excellent.........then again i have only used built in phono stages on new and vintage receivers. I still want one and they are about $125.00 on ebay i believe. Any one have any other suggestions on tube phono preamps???

Check out Bellari, they make fairly affordable tube phono preamps.
