"Scandal" on ABC HD - Page 2

What no one here watch this anymore?

The last few episodes have gotten better. There is enough of a plot to keep things interesting though the promos are a bit overdone.

So glad that Fitz woke up and Huck is out ot confinement. I am really into this show! I think it's finally hitting on all lines now. The characters and story line continue to get better and more developed and intertwined as we go. It has become a must see on my list!biggrin.gif

Still watching. Definitely getting more interesting. smile.gif

I'm just surprised there was no posts for 6 months here. Granted it's not Fringe, but it does have interconnected stories from episode to episode unlike most of those 'cop' shows where each episode stands by itself. wink.gif

I will admit that the fading back and forth camera work is wearing a little thin w/ me.

This doesn't seem to be a popular thread. Just in case anybody is watching this show, which ends tonight, I'm not sure I understand what is happening.

I guess the Navy guy (SFoley) is the mole. And working with the senator that Olivia was about to marry.

First, is that correct? And should I have noticed? Foley showing up suddenly seemed strange. But the senator didn't raise any suspicions with me.

There's something suspicious about the Navy Captain for sure. Besides stalking Kerry Washington.

I've been informed that tonight's episode is ~46 min in length. Three minutes longer than normal.

With it starting 2 min after the hour, that means there will only be 48 min of ads/promos during the show.

Why can't every TV show be 46+ minutes? mad.gif
post #41 of 52
It turned out to be ~44min, but it started on the hour here. But it wasn't free, the ads were just shifted to Grey's Anatomy.

Actual content times: Grey's 38:21, Scandal 44:09

That totals 82:30, which is the normal ABC length of 41:15 (x2). Not likely a coincidence.

Interesting. The schedules were for it to start at :02. I wonder why the change.

Then ABC is compressing the Hell out of the two shows as they both normally run a shade under 43:00. I no longer have the info about last night's GA.

Another reason I no longer watch ABC.

You are right about the compression, assuming you mean time compression.

I got a different capture of Scandal to compare. It ran 46:33, had no ABC or station bug or logo, and had the exact same content. Funny, there was a short period around the opening credits (~5 min in) where they ran at the same speed. And one place where a message about "tweet with the cast" popped up, it was only on the 44:09 version. I assume that means the other version was from Canada or ??

I know ABC shows for about 5 years that I record have been almost always close to 41:15 from two different stations, one in FL, one in TX.

I also checked a different capture of Grey's. It was 40:13 vs 38:21 (the same 5%). I didn't look to see if the content was identical.

Out of curiosity, I just googled "time compression tv shows" and got an education. Like it's been going on a long time. Which makes me wonder how likely is it for someone in the US to get a 43:00 ABC show? Do you know any stats on how prevalent the practice is?

Oh, and just to mention, some months ago I did a look at another show, and in that case the extra couple of minutes was because the other station (maybe CTV?) had scenes that my US local station didn't have. But both ran at the same speed.

Stalking Kerry isn't suspicious, it's just good sense!wink.gif

I'm really surprised at the lack of interest in this series. And I don't even like soap operas.
I gave up on this show. The OMG moments stopped for me, its now more about Liv and the Presidents affair.

Off topic, I don't post in this thread tongue.gif

Kerry Washington is beautiful and talented. Loved her in that SNL episode.
Love her cute little "overbite". The show itself? I won't threadcrap.
Ha. Her beauty, never seen the show :sorry:

At least it's not another reality show even though it may be close to reality. wink.gif
February 27th is a long way off. mad.gif
