I have a room that is 37x 15

The tv will go against the wall next to the stairs.

My plan is to place my two fronts, center and sub in the front wall and the sides, backs in the ceiling.

Here we go

Back and sides
Polk Audio RC80i 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers

Fronts
Yamaha In-Wall 150 watts Natural Sound 2-Way Speaker with 1" Titanium Dome Swivel Tweeter & Dual 6-1/2" Kevlar Cone Woofers for Enhanced Center Channel

Center
Polk Audio Dual 5.25" Two-Way Center Channel In-Wall Speaker

Am i missing something?

How did you narrow your choice to Yamaha, and why are you mixing
the brands up front. Also, what was your subwoofer choice?

I know so little that I just poked around and found things I thought would work. Do I need them to all be the same? I'm mixing up the back/sides and fronts as the the back/sides will be in the ceiling (round) and the fronts will be in the wall next to the tv (at least that's the plan) and thought it would ok to go a little larger.

Front left and right and center should be same brand and model line to blend the best.

I think there are better options than mixing Yamaha and Polks. Boston Acoustics makes some great Inwalls.

3 of these for you left, center, right would be good

Since you want in ceilings for your surrounds this would be a good.

Is your dinning room part of the 37x15 area?

This is a basement so it's all tv/man cave space.

Do you have a max budget - that is a lot of area to cover for
mancave type sound? Are you really restricted to in-wall front
channels?

You might want to consider saving a little longer for some tower speakers for the front, or start with them and wait on the rears. Much more satisfying "man cave" with those

Update: Jim beat me to it! LOL

You were a half step behind.

What these gents said. My room is a bit larger than yours, IMO you're going to want floorstanding speakers for fronts to be satisfied.

I would consider it a long term project and start with receiver and two towers, then perhaps subwoofer or center, and finally surrounds. For that size room you're going to want a fairly substantial sub, it may make sense to make it your last purchase.

Good luck, and congrats on your upcoming project. This stuff is fun!

Thanks for all the replies. I was hoping to keep the room a little less "bulky" with floor standing speakers that is why i was aiming for in wall/ceiling. I don't think i'll need the tv sound to be perfect the entire room as we most just watch from the couch so do you think i can just spend more for better in wall/ceiling or do i need to go with floor standing? I'm also curious if I can add an one or two back ceiling speakers to cover the area if needed.

It is hard to comment anymore with out knowing the budget. It would
also help to know the seating lay out and distance - also, what is in the
area at the back end and back left side.

I already own a sub so I think my budget for the rest of the speaker would probably be no more than $1000.

Here is a picture of the set up to get a better idea.

Did you already hang your TV on the wall by the stairway?
Also, what sub do you own? I still reccomend towers, over
inwall speakers for that big space, and away from the stairs.

Can u post a schematic of where the tv and speakers will be. Distances specified will help even more.
Thanks.

PS: Sewing room?

I would be more concerned on catching that couch on fire being so close to the fireplace!!
1. Move the sectional against the wall at 3 o'clock. You're going to catch the thing on fire where it is.
2. What size is your TV? 15 feet is a long distance to be away from a 40-50" screen.
3. Agree with others that in a room that size in wall speakers for front & center will be challenged. I would spend the 1k on the best deal you can find on front main towers & CC, and wait till you have more disposable income to fill out the surround channels....but even that is going to limit you.

If you subscribe to Newegg's mailing list, you'll get notifications of specials on Polk Monitor speakers. You should be able to pick up M70s and a CS2 center for your front sound stage if you are patient for sales. M30s/M40s for the rear or do your in-walls. Put the rest into a Premier Acoustics PA-150 sub. Tips on getting best pricing here for the PA-150.
