HDMI Problem

I have a Mitsubishi DLP #52627 about 8 years old. It has 2 HDMI inputs. My problem is now I have picture, but I don't have any sound coming from both inputs. I have sound from all others inputs. Is there a setting that might have accidently been adjusted that I can reset? Or can the HDMI connection fail at some point?

Yes, anything can fail at any time.
What devices?
Have you confirmed audio from the devices into a audio receiver?
Are you listening to only the audio through the TV or do you have a audio receiver?

Also if your source devices (Bluray player, cable box, sat receiver) has menu settings to select the audio over HDMI, make sure you have selected PCM instead of Bitstream.

While most of the time this is automatic, many source devices allow manual selection which remains after the selection.

Most TVs of that era cannot handle Bitstream (Dolby Digital, DTS etc) over HDMI, only PCM. PCM is the only audio format required by HDMI, the others are optional.

My devices are DVD player/recorder and a PS3. I have since changed my connection into the tv. For the DVD player , i used a component cable. But for the PS3, I am now using an AV cable, so I lose HD.

But yes, audio is working from the source.

I guess the HDMI inputs are toast.

You have not indicated if you tried the resets for the TV. You also did not confirm if you check the settings on your source devices for the correct outputs. So it is hard to say if they are "toast".

The Owner's Guide shows two resets for the TV. System Reset and TV Reset.

http://support.mitsubishi-tv.com/fil...e/WD-52627.pdf Page 19. I suggest you try System Reset 1st as it does not erase you manual settings. The TV Reset will set the TV back to the original factory new condition. If the HDMI still do not work, then maybe you need a repair.
