Panasonic pot tweaking for improved black levels

Hi all,

After reading with great interest the thread about improving the black levels of the LG plasmas by adjusting some drive pots on the display, I decided to open my Panasonic plasma and at the same time, take a look at the service manual.

On the back of the circuit boards, I've found several pots to adjust. From the service manual, I believe the main ones related to the drive are called Vsus and Vbk. The plasma pulse drive shown in the service manual looks like this:

My goal is to make the blacks darker, and if possible, at the same time, increase the overall brightness of the panel. Would it be plausible that adjusting the pots related to Vsus and Vbk would improve the performance in some of these areas?

The display in question is the TH42-PWD4, which is still going strong after more than 10 years

This has been tried several times in this thread, with varying results.

This post seems to be similar to what you are trying.

Thanks a lot Tom! That's a great link you've posted, which I would never have found by myself. Will definitely try adjusting Vad.
