hey guys, i'm trying to hook my n64 up to my epson 8350 projector.. it has the standard old school 3 prong red, white, yellow connector.. i tried hooking these connectors to the V.AUX inputs on the front of the projector and changing the input to V.AUX, but still get nothing.. i was wondering if it's possible to set up, how i would go about setting it up, and whether or not i'm just wasting my time, thanks guys!

If I'm not mistaken the 8350 has component connections. I have the 3010 and plugged my 64 thought the component inputs. Red and white of course going into the audio and I think the yellow goes into the green unless there is a yellow. I'm pretty sure thats what I did.

Whatever connections the N64 has, the 8350 will accept. Yellow (composite) and s video. I don't remember my N64 as offering component (red, green, blue), but the Epson will accept it as well.

Some of these old game consoles put out a slightly odd OLD school signal. This is not uncommon at all. Isn't there a game consoles section on AVS? You probably would get better responses these if so.

The (N64) system supports SDTV resolutions up to 480i although few games made use of this "high resolution" mode, many of which required the use of the Expansion Pak RAM upgrade. The majority of games instead used the system's 240p/288p modes. A number of games also support a video display ratio of up to 16:9 using either Anamorphic widescreen or Letterboxing.

so what does this mean? does this mean i can't get my n64 to work properly on my projector?

when hooking the wires up to the front of my projector, i can get the n64 game sound to work fine, but i don't get any picture -- any suggestions?

EDIT:
okay, i now understand the upscaling issues.. what about if i connect my component cables from my N64 to my comcast box, which is then connected to the projector? will this help solve the upscaling issues?

Component? Do you mean composite (yellow/red/white)? Have you tried the N64 on a different HDTV to make sure it's functional?

You may want to take a look at this forum thread although it discusses the scaling issue with CRT's.
