Thanks for the heads up on the adjustment, I didn't catch the price reduction. I guess I should have set an alert on camelcamelcamel right? smile.gif

The width of the TV comes in just a hair shy of 139cm or 54.7"

Anyway, the unlock I'm talking about was posted in post 171, by badabing

Regarding my original post about ARC only sending 2-CH, I was able to get the DLNA and TV streams to send surround streams back to my Pioneer SC-1222-K by changing the digital output from PCM to Any.

That's almost 2 inches wider than the Amazon description shows. I was afraid of that-My space is just over 53". Some of the spec sheets list 53", while others list 54.5" Looks like I may have to return it on Amazon's dime since they list the wrong spec. The 50" version will fit no problem, I was just hoping for the most real estate.

Hi All,

Amazon is selling this model $734. Before I place the order, I need your help of below questions:

1) Picture quality: Is color accurate and natural? Is it lifelike clear? any color bleeding or edges around the image? Any fuzzy or grainy?
2) Any motion blur or judder as I watch lot of sports and action movies?
3) How is picture quality from SD source?
4) How is sound quality? Does it have 3d sound?
5) How is 3d picture quality?

I really appreciate your quick response on above questions.

One more question. Is it bright enough like LED as it's contrast ratio is 5M : 1M ?
Unfortunately not that many people own these, and few it appears frequent this forum. It doesn't seem to get great ratings. The panasonics seem to be more popular.

Picked up my 60PM9700 at the shipping company just now. I'm hoping Amazon's width specs are correct, or it won't fit in the custom cabinet we have. If not, the cabinet maker wants $350-$400 to modify it and make it wider. eek.gif

Once you have time, could pls give little description of picture quality?

Might be a day or 2 before i get it set up. Which size are you considering and what other TV are on your list?

50" is perfect for my room. This TV has everything what I am looking for. If picture is lifelike natural and clear, I will go with this. I don't like edges around the image or motion blur. My other choices are Samsung PN51E7000 and Panasonic GT50.

Well the price is sure less right now on the LG than either of those. I'd buy one before they are all gone.

Hi Steven,

Did you set up your 60PM9700? How is picture quality?

Hello All,

As per avs forum LG 50PM6700 official discussion, samsung active 3d glasses, part number: SSG4100GB works great on LG 50PM6700. So it should also work for LG 50PM9700. Did anybody try Samsung SSG4100GB active glasses for LG PM9700 series?

Pls see avs forum LG 50PM6700 official discussion below:

3d in the cinemas are passive 3d. This particular plasma uses active 3d glasses. I'm currently using samsung active 3d glasses on my set and 3d works really great!

The LG part number is AG-S350. These are ACTIVE 3D glasses for LG 2012 Plasma sets. I have 2 pair and they were approx. $75.00 each.

Flipkronikz, you say you are using some samung models and they work fine at only $25, could you please tell me the model number? I was wondering if it was possible to interechange with some other brands. This is perfect, maybe I can experience 3D after all....without breaking the bank.

Oh wow a fellow bc local! I bought them from visions on sale. If you check best buy or futureshop the cost for these is around $25-30 each. Any retailers aforementioned should match or even beat the price of the product so check online and go from there. Oh and part number: SSG4100GB samsung. These bad boys are very light and can even fit over eyes glasses. Batteries are rated to last 150 hours which equates to 70+ 3d movies.

Just tonight. Fired it up. Set up the wireless LAN. Updated the software. Set the picture mode the THX Cinema. Watching HBO on ATT Uverse. (No Logos) Looks amazing. I've never seen a plasma that has such a non reflective screen. Blacks are good. Whites and colors are natural. No soap opera effect. biggrin.gif

This is one of the TV"s I am looking at - as I have some windows in the tv room - but I won't have the money until Friday. I seriously doubt they would have any left!

One thing to pay attention to is the motion blur - this model go slammed on judder in the cnet reviews. I'd like to see what you think of it's performance.
Cnet reviews this series before LG update firmware to fix this problem. There was no way to turn off TruMotion in any picture mode except game mode with previous firmware version. This problem was fixed long ago. Just need to update firmware. TruMotion can be turned off in every picture mode with updated firmware and definitely no judder issue.
Is there any way to adjust the vertical position of the picture?

WOW. That's really good news!

I have also read of conditioning or breaking in the screen to prevent burn-in or IR (image retention). How is this screen affected by these?

I hope the pricing holds out until friday when I could get one... lol. not holding my breath, it's too good of a deal!

Hi Guys,

I just receive LG 50PM9700 today. After seeing skin, I am really surprised! I hate reflection while watching TV. I have seen Venus's photo posted on 5/1/12. That photos definitely looks matte skin and I decided to buy this TV but today seeing this TV, I am very disappointed. Are these below photos look matte skin?

Above photo was taken at day.

Above photo was taken at night while only one light was on.

Above 2 photos were taken while I was watching harry porter. In dark scene, my room back ground is clearly visible.

Above image is from TCL LE48FHDF3300ZTA. I have checked LG 50PM9700 and TCL LE48FHDF3300ZTA side by side. I have Fios HD premium channels. LG picture is not bright and clear. Black is not black. It is muddy grey. This LG is $720 and TCL is $500. This TCL is much brighter and clear compare to LG, and black is really true black. Pls check above TCL photo.

Picture quality is first important thing to me. I want natural looking bright, clear and vivid picture. This LG does not meet it at all. So I am sending back LG and keeping TCL.

Picture is not clear, vivid and sharp. Even 100% contrast, picture is not bright enough. Black is not black at all, it is muddy grey. My cheaper TCL LE48FHDF3300ZTA has mush better picture quality than this LG. Pls check below TCL photo. So this LG is going back.

I'm not sure what you have going on there as my 60PM9700 looks great and the screen is definitely not as reflective as any other plasma I have seen. Did you update the software? I never viewed anything until I ran the update, then put it in THX Cinema mode for the break-in period.
I checked Venus photos posted on 04/26/12. Those looked matte skin but the TV what I have received is definitely glass semi mirror. You can see above live pictures. I also did software updated first and updated version is 04.10.03. In THX cinema mode, nothing is adjustable and picture does not look natural and bright. Also it is little dark.

Not sure what to say about the screen, but I would try playing around with the settings a bit before you abort. You have 30 days for return.wink.gif
