I found his ebay page (his user name starts with a 7 I think). Seems to be around $40-50 shipping normally.

I'll check with him for this promotion.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Yes that seems to be his ebay ID. But I would still contact him through his facebook page and will probably give you a better shipping rate since he doesn't have to pay the high ebay fees.

How do you reinstall the apps? I deleted the music app and now I want it back.

Shen I first used it, all the apps were available to download. Now it isn't. I also tried to download the pkg files and put it on a FAT32 USB flash drive and TVPad does not recognize the drive. I tried several drives. It don't recognize the drive so I can't even use the TVpad to format it, though Windows sees it just fine.

I also tried to factory reset, but it sits there for hours saying its working and do not turn it off. After many ours, I hit the power on the remote and it turned off. Turning it back on reveals that nothing changed.

if you can't read any of your usb drives, sounds like you have a bad USB port. Plus not being able to reset your device back to factory default is not normal. I think you may have a defective device. I was going to suggest you to flash your firmware, but you can't even get your USB to work.

How do I go about exchanging it? I'm not very good with my Cantonese. I don't know Madirin. It is for my parents.

If you got the device directly from TVpad, just contact them and they should be able to exchange it for you since you have a 3 year warranty. You should be able to email them in english and they usually respond in chinese. I'm sure your parents can help you with that.

Got my tvpad, only took 4 days shipped from china to california, sweet.
Initially hooked up to my plasma via hdmi, but decided to use inferior composite video /audio connection to my Replaytv for time shifting purpose. The Replaytv actually "calm down" artifacts , so it is fine. Amazingly, the hd picture fill up my widescreen tv!Sweet!

Any of the VOD HD, especially the TVB dramas?
When I connected the TVPad using hdmi to my 1080p display, when watching jade HD, obviously the picture clarity IS not the same when I download the program from torrent.I suspect the bit rate is far less than what is real HD.
Nevertheless, it is still stronger than tvb via cable/sat.I think the box is worth having.I connect mine to Replaytv via composite, and the Replaytv smooths out the picture , and on my plasma display, the 480i picture looks pretty good, though, not reference standard.

Yes the VOD TVB series are very up to date. Current TVB episodes are available a day or 2 after HK broadcast. I usually watch all 4 or 5 episodes on the weekend. It's better than chasing an hour at a time!

there are English movies but no American TV shows at least I haven't found any. This is mostly for Asian TV. If you want American TV shows, best to go with Apple TV or Roku.

does TVPad get all of the TVB channels?
no tvb movies channel
I connected mine to slingbox for whole house access, using composite, then output slingbox signal to harddrive recorder for timeshift. When using the slingbox component, using ipad's hdmi to a separate hdmi-component converter, the component signal is still 1080p and no independent recorder can handle it.

check the 1st post with the snapshots of all the channels available. you should find a few TVB channels in HITV and Cantonese BETV.

Lily TV (purple icon) is no longer working. I hope they fix it soon.

Just wondering if anyone bought TVpad from ebay and what is your experience. Also why did you decide to buy from ebay and not the official site using the $30 discount promo code on this thread?

I got one last week from eBay. The price was less than Hong Kong"s even with the $30 off.

There are just too many steps to follow when ordering from TVPad. The eBay seller offered 60 day exchange. If there is a problem with the seller, eBay will resolve it. When I was shopping last week. There were two sellers, both received good feedbacks from their customers.

Totally agree! It just give me a warm and fuzzy to have an extra layer of protection by ebay buyer's protection policy. On top of that it's cheaper on ebay than it is with the discount coupon code getting it directly from China. Some sellers are even selling the latest version 2.72.

Anyone seen the list of channels available for the new Niji Japanese channel app for TVpad?
I use a separate PC ,using watch slingbox software in full screen, then use a recorder to capture video output from the PC( actually an intel macbook). The component output from the SlingPro HD is actually 720P, but 1080P, that means when Elagto's Game Recoder is out, i will be able to timeshift at HD!

Seems like a lot of work just to record programs on tvpad. Isn't the program you are recording in movie valley? Also very curious how is your bandwidth usage since you have to leave TVpad on and continuously streaming? Do you go over your usage?

Not everything was recorded in movie alley. There is this tvbhd saturday show "The Lourve and The Forbidden City" which is a show about comparison of the east and west cultures through museum collections that i have been following.
The total bandwidth was less than 1G a day.

Has anyone installed the new TVB App? It's pretty awsome! Has the latest and current TVB shows and the quality is close to 720p.
