I have also been looking for LG or Samsung tvs in this general range. You may also want to consider the LG LW6500 and LW5600 series. They are the previous year's models, and I hear that they are very similar. Additionally, many people seem to be expressing concerns about a number of features in the new models not working correctly (truemotion).
How do you feel about active vs passive 3d? I hear great things about active 3d, but I prefer the low cost and light weight nature of passive 3d. This is why I am leaning towards LG. It seems as though the real gearheads often prefer the Samsung tvs, which is why they often get better reviews and name drops in these forums. Less discerning people seem to prefer the LG sets, which is why they often have very high customer ratings on websites like Amazon.
