ST50 owners: did/will you run the prep slides?

I'll be getting my 55ST50 in about a month and am really on the fence about running the 100 hours of prep slides to prepare the display for D-Nice's settings posted on... that other forum. Now, D-Nice has also posted non-prep display settings that can be used if one opts not to run the slides. The results just won't be quite as good.

It seems these are the pros and cons of running the slides and not running the slides:

Running the slides:
Pros:
-Phosphors are aged evenly and D-Nice's settings will look exactly as they should. This will be as close as possible to matching a professional calibration without actually doing it (a pro calibration of course being the absolute ideal solution).

Cons:
-I have to wait for 4 days and 4 hours to enjoy my TV after it arrives. This will be agony. What can I say, I'm an impatient bastard.

Not running the slides:
Pros:
-No waiting for 4+ days. I get to enjoy my set right out of the box (after applying the non-prep settings)

Cons:
-The non-prep settings are not as good as the prep settings. I'll always wonder if my display could have looked just a BIT better.

So tell me, what did you do? Or if you haven't received the TV yet, what WILL you do?

Bumping this because I'd really like a few more votes.

The only thing slides do is allow you to have a tv calibrated earlier. If you are not having it calibrated it does absolutely nothing for you.

I'm on my forth plasma as my 60ST50 arrived about 48 hours ago and now has around 8 hours on the clock.

I have never bothered with the slide routine. I just sold my P54G10 to a friend and as of yesterday, when it left for its new home, I can say that the picture quality was very very good. And I think that the black level on that set held up rather well.

As for the 60ST50, I set it per D-Nice's no break in suggestions and at this point, other than better blacks, I don't feel it quite matches the PQ of my old G10. But over the next couple of months I will continue to tickle the settings until it hits that sweet spot as I do expect it to surpass my G10. I shall see.

Interesting. But don't D-Nice's (a professional calibrator) settings almost constitute calibration? (Of course a true calibration is much better, but his settings are the next best thing.) So wouldn't a display with D-Nice's settings benefit from the slides in a similar way that a calibrated display would benefit from the slides?

yup.
even if the plasma cells don't benefit from it, slides will allow me to check for uniformity, power supply noise, and any circuits that are borderline.

Besides the known color shifts from use, I believe exercising the panel when new will benefit the over all quality of the tv.

Yes to maximize the potential of his settings you need to do the panel prep. Although this year he has shared non-prep settings.
