Currently have these bookshelf speakers and was comparing them to some JM Lab Chorus 706's that are about 10 years old. The JM Labs are not as clear as the Energy's but they have a warmer sound which I prefer. The Energy's are new would they smooth out after breakin? Reviews on the V 5.1's do comment on this forwardness/brightness. Both sound good but could be better. Thought newer JM Labs might be a little clearer without becoming bright. Energy has the RC series? Other speakers to consider? Need to try to narrow choices down with so many speakers to choose from. Last time I chose the JM Labs it took quite awhile.
The speakers have to be bookshelf and do not want anything bigger than the two above. The Energy is smaller which fits better in the space. Budget around $400-$500 but the Energy's are on a pretty good discount. Need a matching center channel, rears and a sub so price is a consideration. Mainly for HT but some music. If a slight increase in the budget would help to get a significantly better sound that is ok. Also, any brand or closeouts are fine. Thanks for any help.
