Eventually--I still have swan 6.2s or whatever they are. I'll finish building the stentorians and see how i like them.

yes, but the amp's heat is being controlled by the heat sink (top plate)...and its is always best for the air to be allowed to rise up from the heat sink for natural convection cooling. But you will be fine..the box is not big enough to trap heat under it.

PS...i winced when i saw the price tag of the granite, until i scrolled up to see the picture... It gorgeous!! I am looking at how to finish my as yet unfinished (sub is done, finish is not) Baltic Birch subwoofer...and i really like this look. I was going to do a slate top or marble top being from vermont...but that granite looks sweet.

I did too [wince], every place I called looking for remnants--I know there are decent places in KC that have good prices, but for whatever reason... Florida really thinks remnants are worth the same as large slabs. I think it comes down to finishing cost--I also went with 3cm vs. 2cm.

I was also thinking of doing some sort of tile/travertine in-lay with wood surround, but figured this surface will last a lifetime.

Bad part is, the cabinet already weighed a ton, then you add the driver, then you add the granite (granite alone is about 120-150lbs).

man, that looks so good in it's final spot. makes me want to build some endtable subs .

not sure if i missed it - did you mention your budget for this build?
